Just in time for fall canning and holiday gift-giving, a wide selection of printable canning labels sized to affix to jars have been added to the web site PrintableLabels.net. There are 36 designs to choose from, for both the lids and outsides of glass jars.

PrintableLabels.net launched in June 2009 with nearly 100 styles of free printable address labels and mailing labels for home and business use. The canning labels are the latest in what site creator Kevin Savetz promises will be ongoing additions to the labels site.

"The printable canning labels are intended for home canners of everything from jam to veggies," Savetz said. "Some are sized to fit the lid of the jar, while others can be affixed to the outside of the jar itself. There are also matching label sets."

The labels fit specific Avery brand adhesive label paper (round and rectangular), so users can opt for the convenience of ready-to-use labels. The labels are all free to download and print in either PDF or customizable .DOC format. Multiple labels print on each sheet for maximum cost savings.

The canning labels are also suitable for 'gift in a jar' presents, in which various ingredients are artfully layered in a clear, glass jar and presented to someone during the holidays or anytime. For example, there is a soup mix canning label and a cookie mix label as well as a hot cocoa mix label.

There are also floral canning labels, "from the kitchen of" labels and Thanksgiving and Christmas canning labels. Tomatoes, pickles, berries and spices are among the other themes.

Both form and function are covered in the label selection, as the labels have spaces on which to write in the contents and date of preparation.

There are nearly 60 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative web sites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
