All that glitters on the Oscar red carpet is not gold when it comes to celebrity smiles. A new survey of the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF COSMETIC DENTISTS (AACD) finds that there are celebrity winners and losers when it comes to an award-worthy grin.

How did top OSCAR NOMINEES fare in this battle of the smiles?

Black Swan diva NATALIE PORTMAN swept the field with 91% of cosmetic dentists ranking her smile #1 among other nominees in the Best Actor/Actress in a Leading or Supporting Role. Not far behind is 127 Hours-star JAMES FRANCO, who took the runner-up spot with 82% of votes.

CHRISTIAN BALE, nominated for his role in The Fighter, had a weak smile performance with only 26% of the vote. Here's the overall ranking:

Oscar Nominee Best Smiles

#1 Natalie Portman

#2 James Franco

#3 Nicole Kidman

#4 Annette Bening

#5 Colin Firth

#6 Christian Bale

Most Kissable Celebrity Mouth

Which Hollywood female celebrity has the most kissable mouth? AACD member dentists say ANGELINA JOLIE wins hands-down for having the perfect pout for smooching.

NATALIE PORTMAN comes in second followed by a close third-place tie for HALLE BERRY and JULIA ROBERTS.

As for the most kissable man, Golden Globe nominee JAKE GYLLENHAAL beat out perennial favorites such as BRAD PITT, GEORGE CLOONEY and DENZEL WASHINGTON.

From Cruise to Clinton: Famous Smiles that Need Work

Beyond Oscar nominees, AACD dentists weighed in on which high profile celebrity, sports figures and politicians they would love to get in their chair.

Cosmetic dentists were asked: Whose smile needs improvement and which procedure would you recommend?

The Men:

TOM CRUISE tops the list with the most cosmetic dentists writing in that they would love to see a total cosmetic re-do using the latest orthodontic and veneer technologies. (Veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface to improve the aesthetics of a smile.)

Retired NY Giants defensive end and NFL commentator MICHAEL STRAHAN came in second with his noticeable front tooth gap, technically called a "diastema" that dentists would love to correct.

Former President GEORGE W. BUSH took third place with cosmetic dentists noting that he's in need of a complete cosmetic dentistry re-work including whitening, splint therapy (bite correction, usually for jaw joint/TMJ problems) bonding and veneers.

The Women:

Two famous females tied for first place for smile makeovers. According to AACD dentists, U.S. Secretary of State HILLARY CLINTON and CBS Evening News anchor KATIE COURIC could both use specific cosmetic work to enhance their looks for TV and personal appearances.

AACD dentists suggest that HILLARY CLINTON could benefit from crowns (tooth-shaped cover over a damaged tooth) and veneers while Couric could use a 'smile lift' which involves a gum lift and lengthening of her front teeth.

Honorable mentions included performer MILEY CYRUS and author and lawyer CAROLINE KENNEDY (crown lengthening), former U.S Secretary of State CONDOLEEZA RICE and actress JENNIFER GARNER (veneers) and singer-songwriter JEWEL (orthodontics and whitening).
