Northern California Chapter of Business Marketing Association (BMA) Names 2010/2011 Board of Directors

New Expanded Board Positions Leading B2B Marketing Association for Ongoing Growth



The Northern California Chapter of the Business Marketing Association (BMA) today announced its Board of Directors for the 2010/2011 fiscal year. The all-volunteer Board includes top marketing leaders from Silicon Valley and the Bay Area from the ranks of corporations, consulting firms, and marketing agencies.

The board this year has nearly doubled in size, to reflect the increased scope of responsibilities and offerings planned by the chapter in the coming year.

"Over the last three years, we have focused on revitalizing the NorCal BMA chapter," said Josef Chervenka, Chapter President. "Our new board prepares us for the next stage of growth as we develop programs to serve the top B2B marketers in the area. I'm excited to have such a high caliber team of marketing professionals onboard to drive NorCal BMA forward throughout the next year."

The 2010/2011 board includes:

Carole Coleman - Chairperson and Past President

Carole Coleman is a writer and producer of B2B media, as well as an internal communications writer and project manager. She has been working with the NorCal BMA since 2003 as a writer and editor, contributing to the establishment of the chapter's look and feel. Carol served as NorCal BMA President for the 2006-2007 fiscal year and has served as Chairperson since 2008.

Josef Chervenka - President

Josef Chervenka is entering his third year as chapter president, having joined the NorCal BMA Board in 2007 as VP of Finance. He is currently an Assistant Director, Global Account Management with Ernst & Young, the Big 4 accounting firm. Josef has over ten years of experience, working primarily in marketing, sales, and consulting positions with both startups and large corporations.

Christine Wolter - Secretary

Christine Wolter is continuing in the role of secretary of NorCal BMA, a position she has held since joining the Board in 2005. As director of marketing programs at Arena Solutions, a SaaS software company serving manufacturing companies, Christine oversees the development and execution of programs that integrate email, pay-per-click advertising and lead nurturing, as well as managing the business development team. Before joining Arena, Christine spent many years working in the semiconductor industry, where she gained firsthand insight into the kinds of challenges small and mid-size manufacturers face on a daily basis as they try to get their products designed, built and out the door.

Niti Agrawal - VP, Programs

A veteran product marketing professional, Niti Agrawal continues in the position of VP Programs for a second year. Niti is President and Founder of Stage 4 Solutions, a product marketing firm that specializes in maximizing marketing investments for Fortune 500 high-techs and emerging high-tech leaders. Previously, at HP, Niti was responsible for all major phases of product life from managing channel inventory to end of life transitions and new product introductions. She holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BS in Accounting and Finance with highest honors from The Wharton School of Business. She is a frequent speaker at both industry events and universities.

Berni Ai-Kuo - VP, Membership

Berni Ai-Kuo joins the board this year as VP of Membership. She is a corporate executive-turned-consultant, with 20+ years of experience leading global operations, marketing and finance. Past roles include marketing consulting, business development, market research and operations across different industries from high-tech, consumer packaged goods to investment banking. In her role as VP Membership, Berni will focus on both growing membership and retaining existing members by communicating the value of membership and creating incentive programs to encourage new members to join and renew their membership ties.

Linda Popky- VP, Marketing

Linda Popky joins the board this year as VP of Marketing. The founder and president of L2M Associates, Linda is a consultant, author, speaker, and educator who helps organizations use marketing to transform their business and dramatically improve the bottom line. She was recently named one of the Top Women of Influence in Silicon Valley and inducted into the Million Dollar Consulting ® Hall of Fame. Linda is the Immediate Past President of Women in Consulting (WIC, as well as the first marketing consultant certified worldwide to offer the Private Roster Mentoring ™ Program. Linda holds an MBA and a BS in Communications from Boston University.

Miguel Tam—VP, Sponsorship

Miguel Tam joins the board with responsibility for developing sponsorships for the chapter. He is a principal of TopSprout, a marketing consulting firm specializing in new product launches. Miguel has over 20 years' experience successfully launching new products at clean tech, high-tech and services firms, and he has helped companies earn millions of dollars in new product revenue by designing and marketing such diverse products as enterprise software, mobile applications, ergonomic accessories, audio equipment and retail kiosks. Miguel has an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and a Bachelor's in Product Design from Stanford University.

Nancy Chou – Director, Social Media

Taking on the new role of social media director is Nancy Chou, a nimble, relevant and results -oriented VP of marketing, strategic marketing consultant and the principal of Nancy Chou Marketing Consultants. She is a certified as a Social Media Strategist and a former marketing instructor at the Stanford Continuing Studies Program. She is skilled in marketing, business development and sales. Nancy has worked with Fortune 500 and startup companies in both B2B and B2C businesses, most recently in the enterprise and consumer security software and green tech markets. Nancy received her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Walt Rossi – Director, Roundtables

Walt Rossi joins the board to coordinate the activities of the chapter's robust roundtable programs. Walt has 20 years of experience in marketing and sales leadership with rapid growth, emerging market high-tech companies. He is currently Sr. Director, Business Development at DemandTec, responsible for managing partnerships and identifying new growth initiatives. Walt has led marketing initiatives at both large and small software companies, including HP, Questra, Valdero, Kana/Broadbase, PeopleSoft, Intrepid and Teradata. Walt holds a B.A. in economics from Boston College and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Boston College Technology Council.

Mike Tubbs –Director, Facilities

Mike Tubbs continues in his role as Director of Facilities for the chapter. The owner of Vinyl Revival!, an analog-to-digital audio conversion service, Mike's previous work includes serving as Senior Account Executive with Ellipsis Graphics Company for the previous nine years, working in the print brokerage field, as well as sales positions with Digital Impressions and CompuImaging, where he specialized in digital printing. Mike graduated from San Jose State University with a BA degree in Business/Marketing. He has been a BMA member for the past eight years and previously served as the chapter's V.P. of Membership.

Kezia Gollapudi - Director, Website

Kezia Gollapudi continues in her role as chapter Website Director. Kezia has over ten years of marketing communications experience in the high-tech industry, with extensive experience planning and executing marketing initiatives at start-ups. Currently, she enjoys a challenging marketing position at a Bay Area start-up in a bleeding edge industry. Kezia is also a member of the Mission College Advisory Committee for the Business Department, and holds a BS in Marketing from Santa Clara University, California.
