Nevada U.S. Senator Gets Two-Faced Award for Washington Behavior, Notes Gun Law Expert

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada is getting the two-faced Janus Award," gun rights expert John M. Snyder announced here today. "This recognizes Reid's attempt to have it both ways regarding the rights of law-abiding firearm owners"
A former National Rifle Association editor, Snyder is Public Affairs Director of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Shotgun News last year named him the senior rights activist in Washington.
The mock award is named for the two-faced ancient Roman god Janus. "Harry has demonstrated by his outstanding hypocrisy that he is most deserving of this distinction," explained Snyder.
"On the one hand, he has been able to cite his Senate votes for pro-gun legislative initiatives as evidence of his commitment to Second Amendment rights. On the other hand, his active and successful shepherding through the Senate of the nominations of Eric Holder as Attorney General and Sonia Sotomayor as Supreme Court Justice demonstrate his long range support for those opposed to Nevadans' and all Americans' gun rights"
Snyder pointed out that Holder advocates reinstitution of the failed Clinton-era ban on semiautomatic firearms. He noted also that Sotomayor during her confirmation hearings stated she did not know if an individual has a right to self-defense.
"Holder and Sotomayor both were nominated by President Barack Hussein Obama," said Snyder, and "Nevada's senior Senator ushered them through Capitol Hill like a good Obama lapdog. According to Rasmussen Reports on voter attitudes, Obama's approval ratings have been taking a real nosedive. Maybe Reid's will, too.
"Polls, town hall meetings and citizen protests in Washington and throughout the country show the American people oppose Obama big government policies and those in Congress who support them. A broad and deep political upheaval is in the making"
