An unusual form of revenge dreamed up by a betrayed wife in Centreville, Virginia, has been receiving worldwide media attention for the past few days.

The wife of "William Taylor" (not his real name) had her cheating husband stand on the busiest street in their hometown with a huge sign around his neck that read "I cheated. This is my punishment."

Infidelity Expert Says William Taylor is Lucky

Commenting on the form of revenge Taylor's wife chose, infidelity expert Ruth Houston, founder of InfidelityAdvice.com and author of Is He Cheating on You? – 829 Telltale Signs says, "Considering some of the methods of revenge other wives have used on cheating husbands over the years, Taylor is a lucky man."

See Houston's article entitled How Betrayed Wives and Other Infidelity Victims Get Revenge on Their Cheating Mates.

Acts of Revenge that Made the News

Houston, who is frequently called on by the media to comment on infidelity issues in the news, cites three examples newsworthy revenge below:

• Earlier this month, 4 women in Wisconsin, the wife, his two mistresses, and the sister of one mistress, lured a cheating husband to a hotel, where they glued his penis to his stomach with Krazy Glue.

• Last month, a betrayed wife in New York wife poured boiling water on her cheating husband's genital area, causing second and third degree burns.

• Lorena Bobbitt cut off her cheating husband's penis several years ago.

Houston continues, "Taylor may have been embarrassed to stand there with a sign around his neck proclaiming his infidelity for all the world to see, but he wasn't physically harmed in any way. At least his wife chose a non-violent form of revenge to even the score."

The Trend Toward Violent Acts of Revenge

"There has been a growing trend for female infidelity victims to employ violent forms of revenge on their cheating mates, says Houston, who has been researching infidelity for over 16 years.

See Houston's article entitled More Women Are Resorting to Violent Acts of Revenge.

Houston observes, "Violent acts of revenge used to be largely a male response to infidelity. But now women are getting in on the act. Some forms of revenge are relatively harmless, like standing on a corner with a sign around one's neck. But other forms of revenge, if they are violent, destructive, or illegal, can land a person in jail. "

An Infidelity Lesson Well Learned

"The public humiliation that William Taylor experienced will probably turn out to be very effective form of revenge." says Houston. The man was obviously embarrassed, because he refused to gave reporters his name. But I'm sure his wife feels vindicated, and Taylor experience will serve as a deterrent to ever cheating on his wife again."
