Dear LeBron: You Chose What Made You Happy Instead of What Was Right
Dear LeBron: First of all, it is or gan i za tion NOT organ I zation. You have many things in your life, but good grammar is not one of them. I'm so tired of hearing that you had to make a decision that would make you happy. Happy. Life is not just about being "happy". What about doing the right thing? 5 Reasons You Will Never Be Happy with this Decision and the bad karma that you have brought upon yourself 1. You made it public You took your divorce public, played it out on national TV. That is never a good thing. You love the media and think you can control it. Tiger Woods thought he could control the media too. He turned the media against himself. You tried to cover your need for media attention by raising money for charity. Nice try. Even a blind person could see through that ruse. The highest form of giving is anonymously. Doing it through national TV is certainly not anonymous. 2. You dissed your owner Dan Gilbert did everything to create a winning team for you. He built a state of the art practice facility, made trades to help you win today and put his own franchise at risk. Your decision devalued his franchise overnight. Don't you think he deserved a phone call from you? Dan Gilbert's letter is what your father should have said to you. 3. You didn't do the right thing and you didn't do it right Every NBA legend has owned one team. Except for Shaq and that was not his choice. MJ was Chicago, Charles Barkley was the Suns, Bird the Celtics. The right thing was to stay. And the right way to disappoint your city was not on national TV. 4. You won't be the man anymore You think it was fun to play with Wade and Bosh at the Olympics. That was a rarified atmosphere, not an 80 game season. How much fun do you think it will be to no longer be the man? To no longer be the guy who gets the ball when there is two seconds left. Do you think MJ would have wanted the burden on anyone else's back? Do you think Jerry Rice would tell Joe Montana to throw to another receiver? 5. You didn't own your decision You didn't own your play in Game 5 or 6 of the Celtic series and you didn't own this decision. You said you are a 25 year old man. A man owns his actions. You said it wasn't about money. You failed to mention that with no tax in Florida, the numbers do really tell a different story. You now have a talented team. That does not mean a winning team. You conducted a dog and pony show, when you likely knew the outcome since the Olympics. You have hurt the Cavaliers for the next several years, maybe even a decade. If you would have made this decision earlier, Cleveland would have more options. That appears to be your parting gift to Cleveland. You wanted it easy. You wanted it fast. You have always felt entitled. Now you are entitled to the narcissist betrayal that you have earned. Your former fans. Leslie Ungar
