Producer of Spoof Commercial Gets Actual Orders For 'Stupid Product". Yes! You Can Sell Anything On TV!!!
Palm Harbor, FL, December 2, 2009: Bill Thompson, CEO of TV Inc., a national marketing company that specializes in out-of-the-envelope marketing strategies, has produced a short TV commercial spoofing all those spots that feature someone screaming at you to buy their product.
The commercial is clearly a spoof. The product being sold is a collection of all those cliché's you hear: "But Wait There's More", "Operators Standing By", "Have A Credit Card Handy".
The imaginary "Sell Products On TV" kit has a $19.95 (of course) price tag. Even though the commercial is clearly a spoof, Thompson says he's getting orders for the kit.
"It only goes to show that with the right presentation and marketing you can sell anything on TV," Thompson reports. "We did the commercial as a tribute–poof to the late Billy Mays and putit on YouTube. We've been getting calls ever since. Yes, even orders. I've had to explain to these callers that the spot was a TV Inc. spoof."
According to Thompson, when he tells callers that what they want to order is an imaginary item, they are a bit embarrassed. "Maybe I should really sell such an item," Thompson quipped,

Thompson said his production crew had so much fun making the spoof-commercial that intend on making more of them.
