Denver, CO (April 13) -- African-American, Hispanic and faith-based leaders of the national Affordable Power Alliance will be in Colorado on Wednesday and Thursday, April 14 & 15, to speak at the Tax Day Tea Party Rally at the Colorado Capitol and to discuss a new study that shows why higher energy prices constitute a "war on the poor" because of their discriminatory impact on low-income and minority citizens.

Niger Innis, National Spokesman for the 68-year-old civil rights organization Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), and co-chairman of the Affordable Power Alliance, will address the crowd at the Colorado Tax Day Tea Party Rally just before 12 noon on Thursday, April 15. Also speaking from the Affordable Power Alliance at the rally will be Bishop Harry Jackson, Jr., President of the High Impact Leadership Coalition.

Innis and Bishop Jackson will outline threats in Colorado to low-income citizens with regard to affordable energy, and will talk about why public policies that drive up the cost of energy disproportionately impact the poor.

They also will unveil details of a recent study http://www.affordablepoweralliance.org/ commissioned by APA which details how global warming regulations planned for implementation by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will disproportionately affect low-income and minority families.
