Bookviews Becomes a Blog: 50 Years in Transition
South Orange, NJ
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
South Orange, NJ -- Bookviews.com, formerly a dedicated website, will convert to a blog in August. The announcement was made by its longtime editor, Alan Caruba. "Only the URL of the monthly report on new fiction and non-fiction will change.
Accessible at http://bookviewsbyalancaruba.blogspot.com, Caruba will continue Bookviews, an editorial product that began in the 1960s when he was a reporter for a weekly newspaper. "I always loved to read so the opportunity to report on new books evolved as the circumstances of my life changed." Caruba is among the charter members of the National Book Critics Circle that was founded by Ivan Sandroff in1974. Initially syndicated to weekly newspapers, Bookviews transitioned to being a monthly newsletter and, with the advent of the Internet, became a website that attracted several thousands of visitors every month. Caruba anticipates that those who formerly visited the website will easily make the move to the blog. At age 71 Caruba is not slowing down. Each monthly report averages notice of some seventy titles, devoting sections to history, biography, health, business, advice, children's books, new fiction, and his "Picks of the Month." Alan Caruba
