Be Thankful You’re Not a Victim of Infidelity – Infidelity Expert Gives 13 Reasons Why
New York, NY
Monday, November 23, 2009

"This Thanksgiving, the husband or wife who is NOT a victim of infidelity has a lot to be thankful for," says infidelity expert Ruth Houston, founder of InfidelityAdvice.com and author of Is He Cheating on You? – 829 Telltale Signs. "Infidelity statistics indicate that most men, as well as many women, are cheating on their mates."

Houston, a New York-based infidelity expert who is frequently called on by the media to comment on infidelity issues in the news says, "To most people, Thanksgiving is a family holiday. But infidelity has torn many families apart. In one form or another, infidelity now affects 80% of all marriages and committed relationships today. Faithful mates have become the exception rather than the rule."

Infidelity Statistics Say Most People Cheat

To support her statements about the prevalence of infidelity, Houston cites statistics from several infidelity studies below:

• 55% to 75% of men (married and single) cheat on their mates.

• female infidelity has increased 50% in the past 10 years and is fast approaching the rate of male infidelity.

• 45-55% of married women and 50-60% of married men engage in extramarital sex at some point during their marriage

• 60% of the people in one study, who admitted to cheating on their mate, said their partner did not know about their affair.

Why Give Thanks

"With infidelity at an all time high, husbands and wives who are not victims of infidelity, have much to be thankful for, says Houston, who has been researching infidelity for over 15 years. "They've been spared an untold amount of hurt, humiliation, and heartbreak. Having once been a victim of infidelity myself, I can assure you that this is a lot to be thankful for."

NOTE: See Houston's article entitled Be Thankful This Thanksgiving if You Have a Faithful Mate posted on the National Infidelity Examiner page at Examiner.com

Houston, who has been remarried for 10 years to a faithful man who was also a victim of infidelity in a previous marriage says, "People who have never been cheated on tend to take fidelity for granted. But there are valid reasons why those untouched by infidelity should give thanks."

Houston lists 13 reasons below:

13 Valid Reasons to Be Thankful

• Be thankful the time and energy you've invested in your marriage have not been in vain.

• Be thankful you don't have to deal with the mental anguish and emotional trauma that infidelity brings.

• Be thankful your marriage and family are still intact.

• Be thankful you don't have to fight over which parent your children will spend Thanksgiving with this year.

• Be thankful you don't have to agonize over decision of whether or not to stay with a cheating mate.

• Be thankful you haven't contracted a sexually-transmitted disease because your spouse had unprotected sex with someone else.

• Be thankful you and your spouse don't have to see a marriage counselor to get your marriage back on track.

• Be thankful your spouse hasn't moved out or abandoned you for the person with whom they are having an affair.

• Be thankful your spouse hasn't surprised you with divorce papers out of the blue.

• Be thankful you're not involved in a custody battle over your children.

• Be thankful you don't have to shell out money to a divorce attorney in these difficult economic times.

• Be thankful you're not one of the millions of unsuspecting spouses who have no idea that their marriage mate is having an affair.

• Be thankful you're not an object of pity among your family and friends because you were the last to know.

Not Sure Your Mate is Faithful?

If you're not sure whether or not your marriage mate is one of the faithful few, you're not alone. One infidelity study which questioned cheating spouses and their mates found that 70% of married women and 54% of married men had no idea their spouse was having an affair.

The sad reality is that most cheaters don't get caught.  See the following articles posted on infidelity expert Ruth Houston's National Infidelity Examiner page at Examiner.com
