(November 19, 2009) Human Factor International, with co-sponsor Columbia Coaching Alliance, conducted the latest roundtable event entitled "Asia Pacific Executive Coaching Roundtable," at the Mandarin Oriental in San Francisco on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 7:00pm.

The discussion focused on working across cultures within the global business community to create more effective communications in the worldwide marketplace and how understanding cultural preferences and image can improve business results. Additionally, career stability and improved job satisfaction in the legal profession was explored.

Guests at the roundtable included: Angela Huang, Developing Platform Marketing Manager, SC Johnson; Fred Kohler, HR Business Partner, Global Sales Organization, Juniper Networks; Jason C. Meek, Founder & CEO, The iDeal World, Brian Mendelsohn, Owner, Accelerator Company; David Zeitler, TK, Integral Dynamix.

Roundtable hosts included: Betty Chu, Certified Image Consultant, Certified Corporate Etiquette and International Protocol Consultant, Class In Style; Mai Vu, Executive Coach, entrepreneur, Co-Founder and Chief Inspiration & Learning Development Officer of youPlus, Senior Trainer for The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) with 12 years of coaching expertise; Jeffrey Jones, Managing Director of Human Factor International, Executive and Transcultural Leadership Coach and multi-linguist with 19 years experience in human resources, training & development, and coaching; Thomas Irre, Media Director of Human Factor International.

Brian Mendelsohn commented about the event, "Meeting with Jeffery and his team opened my eyes to the impact that culture has on the way in which we perceive the world. In discussing how to bridge the gap between east and west, I discovered significant value and had insight into being more effective in understanding culture, both my own and others." Jason Meek remarked, "The culture within the legal profession requires a unique approach to coaching that addresses the specific demands of the field. Additionally, there is a challenge in delineating the benefits of coaching for a community of highly educated and successful individuals where performance is less an issue than personal fulfillment." Mai Vu added, "The question about recognizing and overcoming cultural preferences that were passed down from family or life experience opened up a useful dialogue around the business benefits associated with enhanced cultural understanding." Jeffrey Jones observed that, "The results produced from identifying and expanding our cultural orientation are remarkable. In addition, I look forward to a continued exploration of how coaching can play a role in improving career satisfaction within the legal community."

The Global Coaching Roundtable was launched by Human Factor International in December 2008. The first roundtable took place in Shanghai at 3 on the Bund with a diverse group of Executives, Entrepreneurs, and HFI Clients. The mission of the initiative is to stimulate a global conversation on coaching and leadership development from a wide and diverse range of viewpoints. The culmination will be the publication of an article sharing the global conversation with the coaching and business communities. A certain number of the events will see participants joining over video conferencing and HFI's Virtual Offices in Second Life. HFI is committed to expanding the reach of coaching through technology and at the same time leveraging this technology to decrease the carbon footprint created by unnecessary business travel.
