Short-Term care Insurance Advisories available for insurance agents from www.shorttermcareinsurance.org

Four consumer advisories focused on educating consumers about the various benefits offered by short-term care insurance protection were made available by the National Advisory Center for Short-Term Care Information, a national advocacy group.

"We strive to educate consumers about short-term care insurance which can be a very viable option for seniors who can not afford, health qualify for or are too old to apply for traditional long-term care insurance," states Jesse Slome, head of the National Advisory Center for Short-Term Care Information.  The organization focuses on both consumer awareness and advocacy as well as supporting insurance agents who want to learn more about short-term care insurance.

Each of the four available Advisories focuses on a different benefit and message.  Insurance agents who meet requirements can request personalized versions of the Advisories.  "The Advisories are prepared with the agent's information and even, if they like, their photo," Slome explains.

An increasing number of insurance agents are learning about short-term care insurance options.  "If we want to help more people plan for the very real risk of needing long-term care services at some point in their lifetime, we need to provide options they can afford," Slome adds.  "Short-term care insurance can be a very viable affordable option."

Plans generally provide up to 360 days of benefit protection.  Slome notes that a recent report from the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance noted that 41 percent of all long-term care insurance claims lasted one year or less.
