Bearing fruit a bit at a time. Definitely a work in progress to grow a mission to a population served. Definitely a work of love and a genuinely imperfect vital service to community members and with luck, a process, that creates jobs, soothes souls, and creates solutions that desires stewards, specialists, gifts, donations and compassion.
All nonprofits are totaling their donations for the year. They are looking at photos, making committees, delegating, calculating, going to classes and learning how to brand their activities to reach their donors. It is an annual, quarterly, and daily process. They must show their progress and share about their needs. Some head to business school and some work with Tech Soup to get software and equipment.
Some are working with coaches, some are calling for volunteers, some are working with landing pages and technology. Assets may be people, talents, the story of your services or the story of the populations you serve. Keep reaching. Maybe its time to join NSA/GLAC Speaker Academy and get your speaking chops up. Or call your friend and help their nonprofit make it over the holidays with extra phone calls or a small or large year end gift. You can be an unexpected miracle whether you do it through a Donor Advised Fund, a car, a check, 10 hours, a referral, a hug.
Their work at year end may be with a staff member, a celebrity, a caterer, a vendor, but in the process ….communities are being regenerated step by step and phone call by phone call. Don't feel like you are not needed you are.
At the same time, if you join a Board here's some connections and suggestions that could help…..look at the details with the Treasurer….or let someone know you can and will mount a committee and transform this culture by generating overhead, grants, gifts, publicity, supplies, other Board members, field trips….why not? It's fun, value adding and will improve your skills, your sense of humor, and your social media and event savvy all the while serving a mission and a purpose.
