Animals at the Packing Station- are moved to safety and being featured in the media. Deb and Sue Burgess, once again, awesome spokespersons and advocates for nature are in the news. The requirements of being ready when asked to act by the Forestry Service meant that they went mobile. These two entrepreneurs, friends, neighbors, and animals were caught in the urban edge between nature, fire, and stopping services to ensure safety. When life calms down, they will have stories to tell.
LA's the Place- where urban and rural issues rub shoulders more and more often. When a sudden fire impacts daily life, locals rise up and show our human best. This press release covers some of the local resources for emergencies for now and in the future.
As for their mules and packing jacks, they smiled for the camera as the Pasadena Star covered the Santa Anita stable hospitality for the Burgess animals ready for the next adventure.
Thanks to all who helped and served, once again the Pack Station is making history,
Sue and Deb are hard at work. They will communicate as soon as the business at hand makes itself clearer.
Thank you to the firemen and the neighbors who have endlessly helped preserved this historic site, the canyon, the cabins, the camps/trails, and this deserving business enterprise.
Chantry Flats and the Packing Station are a local prize and an important refuge for all who love to walk, appreciate nature, and stop for a few minutes to many hours of recreation and joy. We hope you are back soon. We'll look forward to buying a bandana or getting a snack.
For those who want to donate, time or money to help out, even have ideas to hire the staff in the interim closure period, write the packing station by email.
In the interim, watch the Adams Packing Station website for vital news and updates on this and our local and internationally precious historic retreat and service center.
