The First Lady…speaks out…. "It hurts"….Children will follow adults examples. She has spoken out against "tapes of bullying speech and threatening or predatory behaviors", not explained away by locker room jabbering.
Paraphrasing.....Women can cry about it or as Mrs. Obama did cry out against inappropriate self-expression.if it has been acted upon and violated the bodies or rights of others.
Look at her video and use her frankness to open up a discussion of media, men, flagrant bragging, mental health, and bad examples. Each be the judge. Family values or another sort of example? Power over others for sure. Human nature? Mrs. Obama is eloquent…there is a problem.
Her opinion....women can and must vote. Women must stand up against horrible behavior… as women, as lovers, as mothers…as people.
Is this another time when women will seize the moment to stand on the shoulders of giants….addressing the need to be safe in the commons. Will they defend the right to be able to make a contribution to the present and the future? The First Lady believes women have a role to play by speaking out.
She believes in protecting the rights hard fought for, and remembering how far culture has come even without an ERA or not. By working generation by generation to advance and create a better world, a world that will honor everyone's daughters, altruism, jobs for old or young people and medical care access. Women have earned legal standing and respect as citizens, human beings, and worthy Americans. Progress means leadership is by common assent, not by force. Consent means it takes two chose to dance...and what we have chosen up til now is to make a choice to progress and participate.
Mrs. Obama is taking the high road. It was a remarkable speech and worthy of taking home and to one's hearts to look at the issues of the day. Another time, Americans might choose to follow a past precedent and ask for a Presidential Commission on Women's Rights ….for now, since the voting has started....we are in the throes of history. MB turned on a light to guide the way. Whatever we choose, she stood up to be counted.
