The number of consumers seeking information about Medicare insurance options has increased 15 percent compared to the prior year according to the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance.

"Medicare Open Enrollment always brings consumer inquiries but this year we are recording more calls and online searches," reports Jesse Slome, director of the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance (AAMSI).  The organization does not sell Medigap insurance products but answers consumer inquiries and maintains the nation's leading online look-up of local Medicare Supplement agents.

"There are many more seniors on Medicare, considering the fact that 10,000 Americans turn 65 every single day," Slome acknowledges.  "Their mailboxes are filled with promotional mailers and many want an expert to help them clearly understand their choices and options."

According to AAMSI, the number of calls an online inquiries to the Association increased compared to the prior year.  "We established and are building the online agent directory because consumers want experts and frankly we simply are not staffed to handle the inquiries," Slome acknowledged.  The organization recently announced plans to vastly expand the database and launch an easier-to-use Zip Code based look up system.

"We want consumers seeking Medicare Supplement information and a cost comparison to have one easy to use resource," Slome adds.  To learn more visit the Association's website at www.medicaresupp.org or call 818-597-3205.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance works to educate both consumers and insurance professionals.  AAMSI runs the national industry conference which is the only national event 100 percent focused on the Medigap industry.

The American Association for Long Term Care Insurance (www.aaltci.org) is the national trade organization focused on educating individuals about the importance of planning for the risk of long term care.  The American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance (www.medicaresupp.org( focuses on Medigap industry issues and helps link consumers with Medicare Supplement agents.  The National Advisory Center for Short Term Care was established in 2015 to build awareness for the important role short term care insurance plays in protecting seniors.
