The website LetterOfHardship.net offers dozens of hardship letter templates for all kinds of tough situations.
"Sometimes, writing a hardship letter is the best approach to a financial, academic or other challenge," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "But it can be hard to find the right words, especially when someone is stressed or embarrassed. That's where LetterOfHardship.net can help."
Twenty new sample letters were recently added to LetterOfHardship.net, with wording to jump-start a letter addressing hardship in a medical, business, academic or other situation. Each letter template downloads free and can be customized by typed into it using any DOC-compatible word processor.
The new hardship letters include templates about medical issues such as trouble affording medication, braces or wisdom tooth extraction. Example wording is given to explain financial setbacks or suggest alternative arrangements such as lower payments.
New academic hardship letters cover AP and SAT exam fees, private school tuition, workshops and crowdfunding (such as GoFundMe campaigns) for classroom needs. Other letters request a second chance at an assignment or changing schools.
The court hardship letters category now has a letter template about needing to drive despite a suspended license as well as an appeal of a fine.
Another letter is to a landlord about pending eviction, while a few other templates address fund-raising in a crisis situation. Insurance and billing issues are also addressed at LetterOfHardship.net.
The site also has articles with tips on letter-writing. Each hardship letter template downloads instantly as a DOC file, or users can just cut and paste the wording directly from the site.
