Turning to violence "bite work" to stop the "Protectors" of the Land – violence is now becoming the journalistic bytes and bits that pick up a ever unfolding story. "
"The Cannonball River (Lakota: 'Í?ya?wakagapi Wakpá'[1] and in Hidatsa: Asihtia[2]) is a tributary of the Missouri River, approximately 135 mi (217 km) long, in southwestern North Dakota in the United States.[3]" " from Wikipedia.....Lakota name for the area as well as latitude and longitude
While big business is building and driving the pipeline construction. Others believe the DAP should be shut down and a move undertaken to "Honor the Earth".
Saturday protestors found bulldozers and were hit with mace and vicious dogs. They were harmed and obstructed while defending water rites, environmental impact issues, and sacred indigenous sites, the surrounding river, treaty rights, and human rights.
Sunday legal filings were submitted re: construction on sacred sites and requests are for injunctions under the National Historic Preservation Act to prevent incidents and to protect the site itself.
The site near historic fall gathering groups is now in the center of bringing the debate about the Dakota Access Pipeline to the whole country during election season about terrorism and activism, pipeline objectives and protests, intense opposition to energy policy, challenges about the actual costs of this engineering/business/community transaction, present and future jobs, health, hope, and democratic response. Legal, social, cultural, civil, activist, environment, indigenous rights …strategy and tactics….that are historical and in conflict, but now driving the issues into the press.
