Teacher Recruitment
Originally posted on Advertising.Microsoft.com.
I just got back from speaking at Career Day at my daughter?s middle school where I found myself both impressed by the young students and inspired by their enthusiasm to go out and find their own passion. As one student summed up our discussion: ?You need to do what you love and do it amazingly.? This reminded me how important our teachers are to sparking exploration ? especially early on in the learning process. The more we can expose the next generation to all of the opportunities available to them through immersive learning experiences, the stronger our communities will be in the future. For me, I was very fortunate to have amazing teachers and mentors in my life who helped me get to where I am today in my career.
Today I?m pleased to announce that Microsoft Advertising has partnered with The Ad Council and TEACH, a campaign dedicated to recruiting new teachers, to help encourage students to consider a career in education through a new series of ad experiences. The campaign is also being supported by State Farm and the U.S. Department of Education.
As a long-time supporter and board member of the Ad Council, and member of the Coalition Board of TEACH, Microsoft is committed to the success of our nation?s educators and students. This next decade is going to bring tremendous innovation in teaching and learning. The traditional classroom will be no more. Technology is changing the way we consume and experience information. And no one knows this better than today?s millennials. It will be this tech-savvy, work-hard, determined generation who will reinvent education to keep pace with tomorrow?s technological advancements. And it is our goal to help cultivate that passion.
Through Xbox 360, Windows 8 and MSN platforms ? where these millennials are already actively engaged ? we launched a series of interactive activities that expose millions of aspiring educators to see what it takes to be a teacher. People can engage in games to challenge their skills and a personality quiz to uncover their passions. To kick off this pro-bono partnership, I?m pleased to say that Microsoft donated over 125 million impressions on Xbox 360, Windows 8, and MSN in order to encourage consumers to rediscover teaching through interactive ad units. This media effort is an extension of the Ad Council and TEACH?s public service advertising (PSA) campaign, Make More, launched in November 2013.
Microsoft has always been about the power of the individual to do great things. This new campaign is just one of our many efforts to help improve education and build a pipeline of future leaders, like our collaborative Microsoft in Education program, which is focused on empowering school leaders so they can transform education, inspire students and facilitate innovation.
The future of our education system is important to me as a business professional in our community and as a father, and I feel fortunate to be a part of this important mission to support aspiring teachers and our next industry leaders.
