Kelly Schwager has joined Edelman as general manager of its Silicon Valley outpost, succeeding Maria Amundson, who was bumped up to global tech chair in September.

The more than 20-year PR veteran reports to Cricket Wardein, US western region chief, and joins the firm's Bay Area leadership team that includes executives in San Francisco and Sacramento.

Prior to Edelman, Schwager was senior VP/chief marketing officer at Streetline Inc. and VP-global products communications at SAP, where she also handled communications for co-CEO Jim Hagmann Snabe.

She also did stints at Symantec, Veritas, USWeb/CLS and Cunningham Communication.

Edelman staffs more than 90 people in Silicon Valley, who work on accounts such as Samsung, Juniper Networks and Adobe Systems.
