Los Angeles, CA - November 20, 2015 - Put your smartphone to use this Thanksgiving by recording interviews with aging parents and grandparents suggests the head of the national long term care insurance trade group.  Then post and preserve the recordings for posterity in the Library of Congress.

"Everyone of us has a story to tell, some life's lessons to share and Thanksgiving is the ideal time to record aging parents, grandparents and other family members," recommends Jesse Slome, director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI).   "In the past we have suggested talking about difficult topics like Alzheimer's and care needs but this year our nation needs to adopt a new, positive tone and holiday tradition."

Making a recommendation to the members of the national trade group, Slome suggested using a free app called StoryCorps.  "The StoryCorps free app enables you to record a conversation and put it online in the Library of Congress," Slome explains.  StoryCorps is known for recording interviews that are preserved.  According to a recent report in The Wall Street Journal, some 65,000 interviews have been logged by the non-profit entity.

"Instead of just checking your Facebook or snapping pictures of turkey platters and pumpkin pies, do something meaningful," Slome advises.  "We are all aging, we all have a story to tell and some advice worth sharing, so make Thanksgiving the time to record that especially with older family members who have a life legacy to share."

"There are plenty of other occasions to focus on aging and long-term care planning," shares the national long term care insurance expert.  "This year, let's be optimistic and celebrate the past, present and future with a positive tone."
