Los Angeles, CA - July 30, 2015 - A consumer-oriented video education center has been launched today by the national long term care insurance trade group.

"Our mission is creating greater understanding of all the various ways consumers can plan for the very real risk of needing care that's not covered by health insurance or Medicare," explains Jesse Slome, director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance and the National Advisory Center for Short Term Care Information.

"The initial videos focus on important topics such as do you have options if you were declined for traditional long-term care insurance and planning for individuals who are age 75 or older," Slome states.   "A video focuses on options for women who are single, divorced or widowed because affordable planning options are extremely important to this group."

Americans have become quite familiar with long-term care insurance but little has been reported or written about short-term care insurance options.  These insurance policies typically provide benefits for a maximum of 360 days.  "Almost half of long-term care insurance claims last only one year or less and these policies often are much easier to health qualify for making them of great value to a significant segment of the aging population," Slome notes.

The videos range in length from four to twelve minutes.  "Our goal is to provide helpful information with as much detail as possible," Slome adds.   "When consumers call our organization, they want to know costs and can they health qualify all things we try to cover on these videos."

Access to watch videos on the Association's center is free and no sign-in or personal identification information is collected.  "Our goal is education and awareness<" Slome concludes.  To access the center go to www.aaltci.org/stcnow.
