THE SUICIDE PARTY: PROJECT O, along with a series of SUICIDE PARTY SHORTS and other films, was inspired by the struggles of writer/producer Gini Graham Scott, due to the economic downtown and mortgage meltdown.  Now the film is in production with a director and two lead actors with over 30 feature films between them.

The inspiration for the initial SUICIDE PARTY script began in November 2011, when Gini Graham Scott noticed that she was coming close to the end of her credit line from several banks at a time when the mortgage meltdown and foreclosure mess was on everyone's mind.  As she wondered what might happen if she did run out of credit and imagined various scenarios, the idea of the SUICIDE PARTY came to her and she wrote the original script in three weeks. The film tells the story of a man about to lose everything who in desperation puts on a suicide party with the help of friends who are struggling, too. If he raises enough to save his house and get back on his feet, he'll live; if not he'll end it all, leading to a media frenzy and unexpected results, with more details on the film at (http://www.suicidepartyfilm.com and http://www.gofundme.com/suicide-party).

Then, like reality was echoing inspiration, in January 2012, Wells Fargo reduced her credit line by $5000, and when she sought a new card for a $25,000 Bank of America corporate account

she had never used, the customer service rep offered her a great deal -- a super-low interest balance transfer offer. But after she asked to start with only a $1000 transfer, BofA not only denied the transfer, but cancelled the account. And two weeks after that, Citibanks reduced a current account by $10,000, leaving her with only about $1000 in credit, so she was unable to pay her mortgage. At first, she went to some workshops on getting a mortgage modification and got caught up in a nightmare of repeatedly lost paperwork and changing personnel like many others seeking a mortgage mod. But after 3 months of bureaucracy hell, she was able to sell her house and make enough to rent a flat in San Francisco instead of the alternative – staying in her house as long as she could without paying her mortgage and credit cards charges and ultimately going bankrupt, while saving enough to move on.

The result was a series of video projects based on the economic meltdown, which included:

- a series of shorts for THE SUICIDE PARTY, including the most recent SUICIDE PARTY SHORT http://youtu.be/UCnoZny6O0U and a SUICIDE PARTY sizzle reel http://youtu.be/4E-tXkDnGjQ;

- three music videos: BAD BAD BANKS, CREDIT CARD RAP, and BANKRUPTCY BLUES.

- two documentaries and a sizzle reel on middle class families about to lose their homes: MIDDLE CLASS HOMELESS - FAMILIES IN TROUBLE, MIDDLE CLASS HOMELESS – THE CRISIS, and MIDDLE CLASS HOMELESS - INTRODUCING A SERIES OF DOCUMENTARIES;

- a documentary on the problem of once successful people now struggling after losing their homes, jobs, or businesses and hit with a big tax bill: FORGIVE OUR TAXES - THE VICTIMS, FORGIVE OUR TAXES - THE LAWYERS, and FORGIVE OUR TAXES - THE HIGHLIGHTS.

 - a personal story about being caught up in the mortgage meltdown due to the crackdown on credit set against a protest against Wells Fargo in THE REAL ESTATE CRISIS: ONE HOMEOWNER'S STORY.

Then, after she found growing excitement about the idea for the SUICIDE PARTY, which highlights the growing national inequality crisis, she found a director Jack Sykkler and two lead actors Glynn Praesel and Tom Molloy, excited about being in the feature film, with over 30 feature films between them. The project grew from there to become the SUICIDE PARTY: PROJECT O, a found footage film, to be filmed in L.A. in March and released in September.

Recently, THE SUICIDE PARTY SHORT has been featured at the Scary Cow Film Festival at the Castro Theater in November, 2013; will be in the Oakland Film Festival in April 2014; and has been submitted to 30 other film festivals around the country.

Since the premise of the film script triggered so much interest, two other directors will be creating different visions – a dark comedy directed by Shamil Erfanian in L.A. and a more documentary-style drama directed by Vinnie Sooknanan in San Francisco.

THE SUICIDE PARTY is the first of a series of films dealing with social issues, which is of special concern to Gini Graham Scott, because of her background as a sociologist with a PhD from U.C. Berkeley and an MA in Anthropology from Cal State, East Bay. Next up is THE PARKING LOT about two women who get into an escalating conflict after a parking lot conflict that leads to an investigation of illegal immigration, chop shops, and murder in East Oakland.

Apart from working on the various SUICIDE PARTY projects, Gini Graham Scott is the founder of Changemakers Publishing and Writing http://www.changemakerspublishingandwriting.com. She is the author of over 50 published books with major companies and 30 books published by Changemakers Publishing, her own publishing company. She also writes books and scripts for clients. She has spoken about the topics of her books to many groups and the media, including appearances on Good Morning America, Oprah, and CNN.  She is pursuing a fifth MA at Cal State, East Bay in Communications.
