AUDUBON, PA — June 14, 2013 — TeamChildren, a nonprofit located in Audubon, PA, is composed of volunteers with a passion for helping children access the tools they need to effectively contribute to today's society, but more importantly, it is made up of fathers who care. In addition to distributing high quality, low cost refurbished computers, this summer TeamChildren is launching its Summer Youth Development Program transforming the lives of the youth in the Berks and Montgomery Counties community.

President and founder Robert Toporek says, "TeamChildren's teenaged volunteers will learn about how poverty impacts the brain, master the use of the learning software loaded onto each computer distributed and research past computer recipients." He said, "They will lead workshops for parents that have received the software as well as early childhood development teachers."

Robert Toporek and volunteers Bill Whitley, Stan Brooks, Curt Michener, Paul Glass, Dave Mosbruger and Tom Harmaty have 42 children and grandchildren between the seven of them and have served more than 50,000 children in the Delaware Valley and beyond.

Eric Bai, a 19-year-old sophomore at New York University and summer intern, is spearheading the fundraising effort to raise $75,000 for the Youth Development Program. Having demonstrated their expertise in closing the Achievement Gap, TeamChildren last month was awarded a grant of $5,000 from the Drummey Children's Trust in East Falmouth, MA, and a $2,500 grant from the Edward A. & Catherine L. Lozick Foundation in Cleveland, OH.

Each family TeamChildren helps has gone beyond their economic constraints to help their children receive a computer. They now have the world of information available at their fingertips and limitless opportunity to become a part of today's digital global environment.
