Gatski Commercial Real Estate Services will kick off the holiday season by hosting a Zombie Apocalypse Community Blood Drive on Halloween, Oct. 31.

Whether in costume or not, anyone eligible is encouraged to donate blood during the company's Zombie Apocalypse Community Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at Gatski Commercial's corporate office, 4755 Dean Martin Drive, Las Vegas, 89103. To give blood, you must be healthy, be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated blood in the last 56 days.

Grouchy John's coffee truck will be on site during the event and the first 10 people who donate blood will receive a complimentary beverage of their choice.

The company will also give out tickets to the November 12 UNLV basketball game while supplies last.

"We are looking forward to teaming up with our local community to help us collect blood for American Red Cross, which is the primary blood supplier for many of our area's hospitals," said Vanessa Reinhart, human resources manager for Gatski Commercial. The theme for the Halloween celebration is zombies and the community is invited to join in the festivities and donate blood.

Anita Kay, senior donor recruitment representative for the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross, said, "Our need is great and constant. We have been contracted by nine  of the 13 Las Vegas-area hospitals and have to collect over 47,000 units of blood each year to meet this need. Gatski Commercial's support will literally help to save lives. "  She added, "Hosting an American Red cross blood drive shows your commitment to community service and being part of the Blood Services program helps ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for your friends, family and neighbors."

Gatski Commercial also realizes that Halloween is not the only day that terror can strike but that emergencies can happen all year long. "Our team will also be working on being Red Cross-ready for any upcoming zombie apocalypse," Reinhart said. "This includes disaster preparedness and CPR/first aid training for our staff through the American Red Cross. Zombies aren't just a fad to us. We understand that team work and preparation is the key to surviving any type of disaster situation."
