Dispatch from Global Medicine Hunter, Dr. Meg Jordan
When teaching Global Health, I ask students to read "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide," by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, which offers vignettes of women leaders throughout the world who bravely implement programs to halt gender-based violence.
A PBS two-part documentary airs Oct 1 and 2, 8pm Central, 9 pm PT. I'm proud to report it was written by the Emmy-award winning documentarian, my niece Michelle Ferrari.
The producers of the documentary have dynamic educational resources available for topics ranging from maternal mortality, economic empowerment, education, forced prostitution and sex trafficking and gender-based violence.
