Media Registration Open for ASTRO's 54th Annual Meeting

At the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, October 28-31, 2012

What:             ASTRO's 2012 Annual Meeting is the premier scientific meeting in radiation oncology and is expected to attract more than 11,000 attendees including oncologists from all disciplines, medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, radiation oncology nurses and nurse practitioners, biologists, physician assistants, practice administrators, industry representatives and other health care professionals from around the world. The theme of the 2012 meeting is "Advancing Patient Care Through Innovation" and will examine how innovation in technology and patient care delivery can lead to improved patient outcomes

The four-day scientific meeting will include six plenary papers, 408 oral presentations, 1,724 posters, and 130 digital posters in 63 tracks/topic areas. Keynote speakers include:

• "Title TBA," Arthur L. Kellerman, MD, MPH, vice president and director of RAND Health

• "The Patient Not Treated," Michael L. Steinberg, MD, FASTRO, president of ASTRO

• "Future Trends in Cancer Survivorship," Edward M. Kennedy, Jr., president and co-founder of Marwood Group & Co., a healthcare focused financial services firm

• "Value-based Healthcare Delivery," Michael Porter, PhD, MBA, Harvard Business School

:  Credentialed journalists from accredited news organizations are welcome to attend and report on ASTRO's 2012 Annual Meeting. Reporters registered by October 15 will receive the embargoed  Annual Meeting Press Kit by October 26.
