Alan Goldberger, of Montclair, New Jersey, a partner in the Millburn, New Jersey law firm of Brown Moskowitz & Kallen, P.C. and the author of Sports Officiating: A Legal Guide conducted a continuing legal education program on legal liability for sports-related concussions at the American Bar Association Annual Meeting on August 3, 2012, in Chicago.
"Concussion Risk in Amateur Sports: Legal Risks and Options for Nonprofit Athletic and Recreational Organizations" -- featuring Goldberger and Kimberly Lowe, an attorney from Minneapolis, MN, was sponsored by the Association's Nonprofit Athletic and Recreation Organizations Subcommittee. Goldberger's presentation, entitled ""I'd Have to be Unconscious --Law, Administrative Regulation, and the Concussed Athlete" discussed the legal liability of game officials, including referees and umpires, coaches, administrators and athletic and sports organizations.
A former referee, and frequent speaker to groups of sports officials, coaches, athletic administrators, and attorneys nationwide, Alan Goldberger provides commentary on officiating and legal issues in the national media. He serves as counsel to officiating and sports organizations and insurance carriers in the sports industry.

ALAN GOLDBERGER is an attorney and former sports official.
