We are Hired Education for Vets, and we will be conducting a free workshop on August 20, 2012 to help veterans market their skills and value to potential employers.

More than 1,000,000 veterans are looking for work since leaving the military, but their talent and skills are being overlooked. Thousands of companies are looking for employees, but they can't seem to find qualified candidates.

This disconnect is rooted in a communication failure: Veterans don't speak corporate and companies don't understand military lingo. But both sides need to answer two basic questions:

1. Why do I want to work for you?

2. Why should we hire you?

Veterans are reliable leaders who understand that the good of the whole must take precedence over the desire of the individual, but they often need assistance in conveying that message to employers.

Hired Education for Vets has assembled a team of experts to help veterans bridge that gap. The six experts are two former military officers, two professional trainers, and two corporate speakers who will provide key information to help veteran's transition to the private sector.

Attendees will be provided with the information they need to prepare a great resume, learn how to dress for success, evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities as well as corporate openings, and keep the positive momentum going with conversations. There will be ample time to network and ensure personal one-on-one time with the faculty and the career sponsors.

The seminar will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2012 at the University of Chicago Gleacher Center, a world-class meeting facility located just off Michigan Avenue and behind NBC Tower at 450 Cityfront Plaza Drive. It is easily accessible by multiple modes of transportation and is handicap accessible

Due to limited seating, advance registration is required.

To register, go to HE4Vets.com, call 312 527 1111 or email aliciae@he4vets.com
