Evan Sussman, Founder of Sussman and Associates, discusses The Huffington Post's list of the most shocking divorces for 2011:

1. Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Bryant – The parties have two minor children, a marriage of more than ten years, assets of approximately $150 million, and no prenuptial agreement. Even though there are many complex issues relating to their break up, i.e. financial and child custody issues, sources say that they have already resolved them. Their split was due to Kobe's alleged infidelities;

2. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver – The parties have a twenty five year marriage and four children together. Like the Bryants, it appears that the issues related to their divorce proceedings, i.e. financial and child custody issues have been resolved. Their split was in part due to Arnold Schwarzenegger having a child with a long time employee of the couples';

3. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore – The parties' marriage was for over six years. They both were highly successful in the entertainment business and reports are that Demi Moore filed for the divorced based on Ashton Kutcher's alleged infidelities;

4. Taylor Armstrong and Russell Armstrong – The couple from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ended their marriage of six years. After Taylor Armstrong filed for divorce Russell Armstrong took his own life;

5. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries – Kim Kardashian filed for divorce just after 72 days of marriage with Kris Humphries, Their wedding cost an estimated $10 million dollars;

6. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony – The couple was married for seven years and has two three year old twins, Max and Emme;

7. Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz – The couple split after two years and has one son, Bronx;

A marriage is a fragile union and it is more difficult to maintain that union if you are constantly in the public eye, as these celebrities were. In addition, reality shows can test a couple's relationship to the breaking point and earlier this year we saw that tragically with Taylor and Russell Armstrong.
