Leader Connections today announced that it will host Dr. Mitch Leventhal, Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs for the State University of New York (SUNY) at its Executive Forum on January 31, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the SUNY Global Center in Manhattan. His address is entitled "Entrepreneurship Across Boundaries: One Man's Sojourn from Startup to State University".
A "serial entrepreneur", Dr. Leventhal may seem to be an unlikely choice to head global affairs at the largest comprehensive university system in the world. But appearances can be deceiving. Dr. Leventhal's early career focused on many industry verticals, including shipping, chemicals, finance, information technology, and technology transfer. He is widely recognized as a leader in global markets for higher education, enterprise-wide data systems, consortium-based initiatives, and public-private partnerships.
Previous positions include founder and president of the Microstate Corporation, founding CEO of the Intellectual Property Technology Exchange (a spinoff from Yale University), and co-founder and vice president for strategic initiatives at Planet Payment, Inc., a multi-currency payment processing company (LSX:PPT). Dr. Leventhal is a founder of the American International Recruitment Council (AIRC), a Senior Advisor to the United Nations Global Compact and sits on numerous other commissions and boards. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
"Leader Connections Executive Forums provide an opportunity to meet with leaders who share, inspire and give-back," commented Jerry Cahn, Ph.D., J.D., Managing Director of Leader Connections. "Each forum features a keynote speaker with experiences and perspectives from another industry. Dr. Leventhal leverages a wide range of experiences as he connects people across the public, non-profit and private sectors of the economy, within dozens of countries, to develop innovative programs that can advance people's horizons, today and in the future."
Savio Chan, co-Managing Director, noted that "Our Executive Forums provide leaders and aspiring leaders with the ability to connect with similar-minded C-level professionals after work. Our members include Chairmen, C-level professionals, President and Vice Presidents of public and private companies including old and new media, retail, information services, manufacturing, executive recruiting, financial service firms, and sales and marketing."
