Shoe Revolt Partners with Mission 21
Monday, October 17, 2011

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shoe Revolt is an Oregon nonprofit that fights commercial sex trafficking in the United States. We take shoe donations and sell them on our online boutique; 100% of the profit goes toward programs that help to house, educate, and decriminalize victims of this atrocious crime. Recently, Shoe Revolt partnered with Mission 21 to help them raise funds for their program. The Shoe Revolt team interviewed the founder and executive director of Mission 21, Stephanie Holt, to get a better understanding of their mission and what partnering with Shoe Revolt means to them.

Mission 21 was established after Holt learned about the need for safe housing for minors in Minnesota. Her team decided to concentrate on saving children and collaborates with Breaking Free, an organization that assists adult women in St. Paul. Mission 21 is currently raising money for a down payment on a safe house, and need $50,000 for this goal to come to fruition.

"Our biggest challenge has been getting the public to believe that sex trafficking is happening in our community. Although we have seen a huge shift in thinking in our conservative city with our prevention work and awareness classes, we still have a long way to go with getting the public to understand that this could happen and is happening everywhere," says Holt.

When asked about the Shoe Revolt concept, Holt explained, "Your mission is brilliant. One of my most frequently asked questions is 'What can I do?' This is such an easy way for people to do something small that makes such a HUGE difference. It's something everyone can feel good and proud about. I know that this is where I'll be shopping for shoes from now on. I'm also really excited that money goes to programs that are making a direct difference in a survivor's life. KUDOS to the Shoe Revolt team!"

Holt's greatest hope for humanity is for the world to know the truth and love of Jesus Christ and through that knowledge live in true freedom and love for one another.
