What do you look for when choosing a cat as a pet? Physical appearance, personality, or maybe the cat's athleticisim? If that latter, the Savannah is what you're looking for. The Savannah can pounce up to 7 feet in a single bound! However, you better be prepared to pay the prices.

This unusual breed of cat came from crossing an African Serval, the most docile of wild cats, with a domestic cat. Besides Savannah's high jump skills, these cats can grow to be as big as a toddler and even run on a leash alongside their owners. While Savannahs are quite large, these feline campanions can be litter box trained and eat regular cat food.

Savannah kittens are rated by the amount of wild "blood" are bred into them. An F1, for example, is 50 percent to 75 percent wild and the largest in the breed (as tall as 17" from floor to shoulder). An F2 is more domesticated at about 25 percent wild and a little smaller. An F5 is about the size of a domestic cat but retains enough wild genes to give it the desired look.

These ratings also determine their price. A rare F1 costs $15,000 to $20,000! An F2 commands a price of $8,000 to $9,000. Even the F5 will cost an owner approximately $1,000. So, if you are interested in this breed, be prepared to pay the price!

According to Jonathan Lewis, President of COOL PET Holistic and developer of COOL CAT Holistic Joint Care, the Savannah is definitely not your ordinary housecat. In fact, Lewis says that this cat can require special care and nutrtion due to its extraordinary size and energy level as compared to typical cats.
