Port Washington, WI, -- Nov. 15 – Self-promoters who are using only the Internet in their PR and publicity campaigns are missing valuable opportunities that exist offline to attract attention.
Publicity and PR expert Joan Stewart, of
http://www.PublicityHound.com, says anyone who wants publicity should be using offline as well as online PR tactics to promote. She will discuss many of them when she hosts the webinar "60+ Places Offline to Promote Your Product, Service, Cause, Issue or Event to Build the Buzz and Encourage Others to Promote for You" on Nov. 23. http://budurl.com/k83j "Some people are spending so much time promoting online that they overlook dozens of powerful, clever and often free offline tactics. You must do both," Stewart said.
Here are seven offline PR tactics and publicity ideas:
1. Use QR codes, similar to bar codes, on stickers, flyers and product packages. Mobile phones that have barcode scanning applications installed can "read" the code, which can have a registration URL and other information embedded. Within seconds, a visitor can arrive at your website.
2. Print the URL for a website, blog or social media profile on invoices, receipts and the outside of mailing envelopes.
3. Use hand-made signs. Attract the attention of motorists with yard signs, and signs near major intersections.
4. Ask local banks to include information about your event or fundraiser on the scrolling signs outside their buildings.
5. Make customized crossword puzzles with words that pertain to your business or nonprofit. Give a coupon or discount to anyone who completes the puzzle correctly. There are a variety of websites where you can make your own puzzles.
6. Use nametags you wear at networking events, meetings and conventions. An author could add a short blurb about her new book.
7. Create your own "Seal of Approval" that you award to people and companies that deserves it.
The webinar will be recorded and sold afterward as a video, with accompanying handouts. It is being created specifically for PR people, self-promoters, authors, speakers, experts, virtual assistants, writers, event planners, nonprofits and community groups.
