AirBoss Mach 8

Swiss watchmaker, Victorinox Swiss Army has introduced its newest mechanical watch, the AirBoss Mach 8 Special Edition. The AirBoss series was introduced by Victorinox Swiss Army several years ago and has proved to be very popular for its military-style designs and premium features including Swiss-made mechanical movements, sapphire glass crystals and surgical-grade stainless steel construction.

The new AirBoss Mach 8 features an interesting innovation. Because of its relative large size, the crown and pushers of the watch are placed on the left-hand side of the watch. This prevents the crown from digging into the back of your hand when you flex your wrist backward. The start/stop pusher, which normally is located above the crown, is placed below the crown in the 8 o'clock position. This allows you to manipulate the stop/start pusher with your right thumb.

The watch also features a rotating countdown timer located on a flange beneath the crystal. It is turned by a knob located at the 2 o'clock position. An exhibition caseback allows the owner to observe the movement. The sturdy calf-skin strap is contrast stitched and closes with a push-button deployment clasp.

The premium features found in the AirBoss Mach 8 illustrates the evolution of Swiss Army watches from a manufacturer of durable, but inexpensive quartz sport watches to a respected watch manufacturer which competes with prestigious manufacturers such as Tag Heuer, Oris and Raymond Weil.

The companies' success has been built upon its reputation for making well-engineered, high-quality pocket knives. The Swiss Army brand has become so iconic that anything it produces is expected to become an industry standard for quality. According to Watchco.com CEO Dave Gerzcak "it's one of two or three brands that people will just buy site-unseen because they trust it's going to be good."
