2010 Vertical Challenge, Ski the Height of Everest in a Day
The 2010 Vertical Challenge, a charity ski event, will benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley and will take place at the Spring Mountain Ski Area in Spring Mountain, PA on January 30, 2010.
The 2010 Vertical Challenge will see skiers and teams of skiers attempting to ski the height equal to Mount Everest (29,036 feet) in a single day. The event will begin at 9:00am on January 30th and is estimated to take eight to nine hours to complete as an individual. For those skiing as a team the members vertical feet will be aggregated and potentially reduce the time required to complete.
Organizer Eric Talbot comments, "The event is coming together nicely. Mother nature has been kind with plenty of cold nights to make snow." With all the good momentum to date skiers and sponsors are still being sought. "There is no cap on our fund raising goal. Every dollar raised goes directly to Make-A-Wish. Thanks to the financial support from sponsors both private and corporate such as Welsh Subaru of Limerick and Advantage Management Solutions of Fort Washington the fundraising has been making good progress."
Those interested in skiing or contributing to the event are encouraged to contact Eric Talbot for further information at (215) 290-1369 or
