Website designed on the principle of the First Amendment Troy, Mich. Sept. 15, 2009--To "sound off" is to freely express opinions, with conviction and enthusiasm. In a country founded on the principle of free speech, sounding off is crucial to our national identity. New website
SoundOffToAmerica.com presents users the opportunity to sound off on topics of their choice. Founder Tom Wald hopes the new website will drive user-generated content of intelligent opinions and diverse subjects. "Across America millions of people are seeking to be heard on a variety of topics, ranging from the highest levels of politics and the economy, to the everyday developments that impact their individual lives and those of their families," said Wald. "Sound Off To America is the perfect means by which they can do so."
Many people in our country hold strong opinions about a variety of subjects, yet there seem to be limited public forums available to express those opinions. While the internet provides an outlet in some ways for people to share and engage in discussion, the current structures of most existing websites have two major impediments:
• Almost all sites soliciting opinions are specialized and topic specific
• Opinions are generally dictated by the sites themselves, which are targeted to attract only users who have viewpoints similar to those of the administrators.
Wald came up with the concept for the new website in response to the climate of existing website forums and to meet the country's need for intelligent discussion about a number of culturally relevant topics. Sound Off To America has been designed to fill the present void for those who seek to rationally disseminate their opinions on almost any subject, and to read and gain perspective on the opinions of others.
