ISTE Members Elect 2009-2011 Board of Directors

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE(r)) has announced the results of its 2009 board election. ISTE members elected six new board members and re-elected two.

Newly elected to the board are the following:

•Affiliate representative: Annette Smith, assistant professor, College of Education and Human Services, University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

•Corporate member representative: Dan Meyer, CEO, Atomic Learning, Little Falls, Minnesota.

•At-large representative: Christopher Fuller, director of instructional technology, Urbana School District 116, Urbana, Illinois.

•Computer science representative: Elliot Soloway, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

•PK-12 schools representative: Ben Smith, physics teacher, Red Lion Area School District, Red Lion, Pennsylvania.

•State education technology director representative: Kate Kemker, director, Office of Technology Learning and Innovation, Florida Department of Education, Tallahassee, Florida.

Re-elected to the board were at-large representative Jeanne Biddle, director of technology, Scott County Schools, Georgetown, Kentucky; and international representative Ralph Leonard, general manager information economy, Information Economy Directorate, Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology, Government of South Australia.

Nominations for the two re-elected board members and six new board members were solicited online at ISTE's Web site, www.iste.org.

The new board members will take office in June at a board meeting held in conjunction with the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) in Washington, D.C. Board officers will be appointed at that time as well. Helen L. Padgett will become ISTE president for 2009-2011 and Trina J. Davis will become past-president.
