America's Oldest 60's Garage Rock Band

Brings The Hump To Florida

•During the 60's, a rock 'n roll band known as The Invictas had a hit record and dance known as The Hump. The band had fan clubs, police escorts, and drove a 55 Caddy hearse with gold racing stripes.

The Hump outraged parents, hit the charts from Buffalo to Miami, was banned in Boston, and made the top 100 in the US.

•A Gannett 60's article reported that The Hump was outselling Beatles records in local stores. Some parents turned the radio off when they heard the song.

•A few years ago, the band decided to reunite and rock one more time. Three of the four original band members, all in there 60's are on stage.

•Since reuniting, the band has been on national TV, featured in newspapers, played with The Beach boys and rocked thousands of fans.

The Hump is still a favorite song and dance at events. Now, the parents and grand parents are dancing to The Hump. The band will feature a Hump dance contest and Skip 'N Go Naked Drinks at their Rock Till Ya Drop events

•To perform the dance, you place your hands behind your head, and gyrate your hips in and out towards your partner.

•The original band members include Jim Kohler on bass, Dave Hickey on drums, Herb Gross on guitar. Dave Profeta on lead guitar and Sam Gruttadauria on keyboards also join the band.

•The Invictas are based in Rochester NY, the leader of the band Herb Gross lives in Charlotte, NC. In the band's 48 year history, they never played in Florida.

•On Saturday March 28, 2009, the Invictas will travel to one of America's largest retirement and golf communities known as The Villages. The band will rock the crowd from 5 till 9 pm at The Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.

•The Villages, near Ocala Florida has over 70,000 baby boomers and retirees living there. The person in charge of entertainment knew of The Invictas and booked the band.

•On Sunday March 29th, The Invictas rock the crowd at the Oldsmar Days Festival in Oldsmar Florida near Tampa. Jerry Custin, president of the Upper Tampa Bay Chamber says "I want to end the festival on a high note so I chose The Invictas to close the show" The band plays from 3:45 until 5 pm on 3/29/09 in Oldsmar.

•The Invictas now have a1984 hot rod Cadillac hearse.

•The hearse has been remodeled in Charlotte NC but can it make the 1200 mile trip from Charlotte, NC to Florida and back? Herb Gross admits he is concerned about the hearse's reliability. It has a rebuilt 500 cubic inch engine, ghost flames on the side, chrome wheels, new interior, brass knuckles on the gearshift, red scull on the hood, bucket seats, back seat and bar and yellow lettering on the sides.

•The band says at their age they have to be prepared for anything so they need their hearse.

•When the band plays, they refuse to act their age. They rock all over the stage, the crowd participates by clapping their hands, dancing and putting their fingers in the air and when they play The Hump, Herb to goes off stage dance with the crowd.

•At a Beach Boys show, the band had the crowd dancing in the aisles. The band has also played with groups like Jay & The Americans, Gary Lewis and The Playboys, The Rascals and others.

•On eBay, an original copy of the band's 60's album entitled The Invictas A Go Go is considered a collector's item and sells for hundreds of dollars. A single copy of The Hump can sell for over $50.

•The band calls their events The Rock Till Ya Drop Tour. Rock Till Ya Drop is a philosophy of life about people following your dreams and passion like the band is doing.

The band also has a book, song and TV concept entitled Rock Till Ya Drop.

•The band members admit this is their last chance to relive there rock 'n roll years. "There's no money in this, were doing it for fun and we still love to play The Hump" says Herb.

•Prior and after the show, the band will greet people and sign CD's, shirts and books.
