Pink Slip PARTIES on a Budget – from The Party Goddess!

Los Angeles, CA, March 16, 2009 – Marley Majcher, Founder and CEO of The Party Goddess! (www.ThePartyGoddess.com), has many helpful tips for people recently laid off and unexpectedly given a pink slip. Forget feeling totally depressed: it's time to celebrate new beginnings – let The Party Goddess! show you how!

Fun Tips Include:

* Focus on One Person – If you're the one who just got jilted, don't worry, you can still party. Send out pink invitations to a potluck bash in your honor. Divide up the guests so that some are bringing booze, others food and the final group handling the disposables. Really in a cash crunch? Send out pink invitations from Evite – they are free!

* Misery Loves Company – Invite all of your recently pink-slipped friends to a party to commiserate. Come up with a location that's willing to cut you a good deal because of the occasion, the publicity, or just one that's got a great and CHEAP happy hour.

* Have a Funeral – Send out pink invites (or Evites) but then make sure everyone comes in black. Mourn the loss of your old job, pay tribute, create a shrine, light candles and have hankies instead of napkins. Talk about the "good 'ol days" with past coworkers, friends and associates.

* Take a Tip from the Irish – Being half Irish, I know that that group likes to have a great time. Have a wake and let everyone show up on dressed in bright colors. Celebrate your old job, all of the fun, the silly things that made it great. Invite anyone and everyone who would appreciate the humor in the whole thing.

* Make It a Networking Opportunity – Talk to a local business group that meets after hours and see if they would be interested in hosting a "pink slip networking party" after their usual meeting. Even if lots of people in the group haven't lost a job, they might have some good leads or just be a group that understands how tough a time this can be. People looking for jobs can have a red dot on their name tag, recruiters or others looking to hire can have a green dot. Swap cards and stay in touch electronically (so you don't use up any of those precious cell phone minutes!) and invite recruiting firms to join in the fun and forage for new talent!

* Create a Pressworthy Event – Really get creative and approach a local printer to donate their time/machine for a night to run off some new business cards for all of your laid off friends. Everyone who is now laid off could get a new card printed with their name, preferred number and email address so people can keep in touch. The print shop might do it at a discount or for free in exchange for the fun opportunity. Create a template ahead of time so that everyone can just fill in their info and you can get it to the printer in one fell swoop.

Facts & Figures:

* January 2009 saw more layoffs than any other time since 1974.

* Nearly 8% of U.S. workers are currently out of a job.

* Nobody really knows where the term "pink slip" came from. The Smithsonian has spent years trying to track down any kind of actual "pink slip" to back up the claim that American workers used to receive these dreaded little sheets when they got fired, so far, they've come up with zero in the example department.

* Pink Slip, the movie, was released in 2007 and is about an alien who, when he loses his job here on earth, must search to find his perfect career.

* A pink slip also refers to the paper spelling out ownership of a car.

Speeches and Event Planning:

Marley frequently speaks before various professional organizations, offering her patented guidance about event planning and entrepreneurial success. "The key to staging an amazing event, is to pick a focus and maximize your bang for the buck. I help people realize their vision with a minimal amount of drama," stated Majcher.
