Ivanka Trump, speaking at the Republican convention about her father Donald Trump,  said he always told her that since she would be thinking anyway, she may as well "think big".  It looks like that advice works for him.

The saying, "thinking makes it so" is more profound than we realize. I truly believe we become what we consistently think about ourselves, and say out loud about ourselves, over and over again.

For example, when someone meets you, they asked the meaningless perfunctory question, "How are you?" You probably respond with, "Fine, how are you?"

I have always hated that dumb greeting, so I have turned it into something positive.  (Let's face it, most people asking how you feel don't care about how you feel.)

I was in my attorney's office and greeting him with the usual, "How are you"? he replied, "Well, I'm doing okay for an old guy, putting one foot in front of the other, keeping my nose to the grindstone. How are you doing?" (In this case I really care about the guy because he takes care of my stuff. Nevertheless, I was annoyed by his response. )

I replied with conviction, "I am AWE-SOME and you are too". (Emphasis on "AWE")

That charged the atmosphere in the office. Everyone laughed.

When you tell someone you are fabulous, incredible, awesome or use some other "mood modifier" you get one of two reactions: If people don't know you, they may be  annoyed, thinking you are a blowhard, but  those who know you recognize it for what it is -- that you are "full of it" and you know it and they know it, but so what. I admit to being "full of it" but I can assure you: You are what you think you are if you think and say it often enough.

It makes me crazy when I ask an older woman the "how are you" question and she replies, "I'm doing okay for an old fart." Puh -leeze! She could have said, "I'm absolutely fantastic" and even though she might be hurting or feeling depressed, she would have laughed and felt better for the moment.

Come on now, get your head in gear. You may feel like crap but so what? Make yourself feel better, and encourage others to feel better by helping them realize that they can be as just as awesome as they think they are or would like to be.

So, how are you today and every day?  Fabulous? Awesome? Perfect? Incredible? Exceptional? Don't be afraid to say it. Try it. You will like it.

Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.  ~ Napoleon Hill
