Los Angeles, CA - September 29, 2015 - Consumer interest in Medicare Supplement insurance, also known as Medigap insurance, has increased significantly according to data collected by the national Medicare Supplement insurance trade organization.

"Calls to the Association offices have increased significantly, requests for cost comparisons have increased as well," reports Jesse Slome, director of the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance (AAMSI).    "I believe consumers are not just seeking costs but they are increasingly looking for expertise in the subject."

An analysis of call data reveals some interesting findings, Slome shares.  "First, the overall number of calls has increased an indication of more consumers doing online research to find relevant Medigap information."  The trade group does not sell Medicare Supplement insurance but will help connect interested consumers with experts in the field.

"While plans are standardized, the prices charged by insurance companies can vary," Slome adds.  "Consumers don't want to be calling each insurance company and few of them know the companies approved in their area.  They want a single expert who can help explain the policies available and the best, or lowest, available cost."

The Association director noted a significant increase in calls also reported by leading Medicare Supplement insurance professionals.  "The number of Americans who own Medigap policies is increasing," Slome notes.  "More people seeking information means more people are considering buying insurance coverage."

Consumers interested in learning more about Medicare Supplement insurance cost comparisons can visit the organization's website at www.medicaresupp.org or call 818-597-3205 to connect with a knowledgeable Medigap insurance agent.

Founded in 1998, the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance advocates and supports insurance professionals who market Medigap products.  The organization's Eighth National Medicare Supplement Industry Summit will be held April 25-27, 2016 in Kansas City.
