If it's all "Digital"...Why does TV stand strong?

The nation's 200 biggest advertisers last year reduced measured-media spending by 1.8%, with cuts in every major medium except broadcast TV according to Ad Age. If today it's all about digital, as many would lead us to believe, why then is TV standing so strong? Because TV has always been the strength medium. Strength in scale, cost per thousand, and demographic dominance. This story is not new, but today in our digitized media world it brings a very exciting story. I noticed a few new TV advertisers this year namely Google, Amazon, and YouTube. They know what TV does to drive real time scale to their business, even is their consumer doesn't quite put it together that these "Internet play" businesses are dominating network TV with ads. I am also noticing a few upscale retailers doing the same thing including Starbucks, and Whole Foods. I wonder if consumers of these brands admit to "watching regular TV"? When they do watch they will be greeted with TV ads that drive them back to their favorite coffee hangout or healthy grocery store. So instead of the usual cacophony about the impending death of the TV commercial, maybe we should be discussing the renaissance of the new digital friendly 30 second video message. Now it's really about using broadcast TV in a digital ROI strategy, to drive digital action and resulting consumer purchases. It seems to me TV just reached Stage 2 in its mission to bold new heights.
