April 28, 2015, Los Angeles, CA -  The national long term care insurance trade association has commenced a national awareness campaign targeting single women.

"We believe single women are a very unique market for long term care insurance and will benefit from very specific, targeted information," declares Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI).  The Association embarked on their awareness campaign today by releasing a national news report and a consumer awareness video to create heightened awareness among single women in their 50s and 60s.

"Women have a greater risk of needing long term care and are most severely impacted," Slome explains.  "But while the need is greater, our research finds that many insurance agents are not presenting single women with options that are affordable.  Women, especially those who are single, divorced or widowed need to know they can obtain a good plan of coverage that is far more affordable than they have been led to believe or often even mistakenly told."

The national campaign has already generated news stories in several hundred major media outlets including print, online and broadcast.  "There are millions of women who face this risk and have no plan in place to address the very real potential of needing extended care," Slome adds.   At the same time that the organization is educating consumers, an effort will be extended to insurance professionals who market long term care solutions.
