Dear Family & Friends,

We have lift-off. First , we had a waterfall of very welcome rain – then several batches of cute, tiny but noisy hail – a splash of lightning heralding the first boom of thunder – more hail – more thunder. Finally, a bit of snow. I’m sure if we stop storm-gazing, it will really snow. You know, a watched pot doesn’t like to boil. All of our people-helping-in-snow-storm are prepared & the people, themselves, are snug at home – very few out & about….so it better snow.

Some pertinent articles about our political system that must be improved…followed by Destruction of Migron despite no Arab claims to the land it was on. Giullo Meotti astutely pins the blame on the donkeys who caused Adelle Biton’s death by rock. They were no “Lone Wolves”. They’d been spawned & educated by virulent Jew-Haters. That the current American President has filled all of his National Security Agencies with Muslim Brotherhood members does not surprise me. It was soo obvious. So, of course, Israel has not been briefed by what’s really in the upcoming agreement for Iran to continue to nurture its snaky path to Nuclear Empire, called a Global Caliphate run by Sharia Law that beheads, stabs, slices, shoots, burns its intended victims – with NUKES?! Depends on Obama?? Enjoy the snow. Stay warm. Drive safe if you have to be on the streets.

Have a wonderful night, a fun day, make a snow-man with your kids (or borrow some).

All the very best, Gail/Geula/Savta/Savta Raba/Mom

The Israeli Knesset (Parliament)

Long ago the Sages of the Jewish people puzzled over an oddity in the Torah: the weekly reading in which God gives Moses the Ten Commandments bears not his name but that of his father-in-law Jethro, the gentile priest of Midian.

On reflection, though, as the Parasha unfolds, the choice begins to make sense. The reading opens with Moses’ “homecoming” from the Exodus. Jethro embraces his 80-year-old son-in-law & together they rejoice over the miraculous escape from Egyptian bondage. They raise a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God & celebrate with a feast.

The next day, though, it is back to work for Moses judging the people who come to him with their questions & quarrels, & Jethro can only look on in awe & exasperation: awe at the divine brilliance of Moses as he renders judgment between individual people but exasperation at his management skills. As a judge of people in their individual lives, Moses was unsurpassed. But not as an administrator.

Jethro says to him, “You are going to wear yourself out & all the people waiting on line will be worn out too.” So Jethro steps in to teach Moses how to delegate authority, set up a court system & a constabulary to enforce law & order.

Now, these events took place over three thousand years ago, but it seems the Children of Israel still today remain clueless about how to administer society judging by Israel’s ridiculous political system. Every two years elections that change nothing & at great public expense.

In our time, Israelis & their supporters brag that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. Yes, but only barely. Compared to other democratic systems in the free world, ours is junk & hardly deserves the name “democracy.”

For example, it is common in Western democracies for people to vote for representatives to a national assembly according to geographical district – but not in Israel.

It is also common in democracies for voters to choose their representatives individually by name; vote them into specific offices, vote for them again when they succeed or vote them out when they don’t & displease their constituents.

But, not in Israel. Here Knesset Members have no constituents with individual names & problems. Whoever heard of an MK voted from office by dissatisfied voters? It has never happened because no MK has constituents. He gets his job from the party bosses.

By contrast, in the United States, each Congressman maintains an office in Washington & one or more back in his or her district where staffers spend their days answering telephones & trying to help constituents, or just register their praise or criticism for the representative’s vote the day before, or to ask him to vote a certain way the next day.

But not in Israel. Our MKs receive no phone calls from ordinary voters over some issue who threaten not to vote for them next time.

In this sense Israel has no democracy but a “partyocracy” whose politicians run not a government of, by, & for the people but of, by, & for politicians akin to members of a medieval guild.

It is also common in democratic societies to have a high court whose judges are appointed by another branch of government. As in the U.S., this commonly leads to balance in legal philosophy between left & right.

But, not in Israel. Here the High Court is a private club monopolized by one philosophy only.

It also happens in democracies that two big political parties tend to dominate, which makes natural sense. The body politic, like the human body, is bi-lateral. If a human being has a head & a heart, a left brain & a right, so the body politic commonly splits left & right.

The two-party system also forces different social groups in society to work together by limiting their choice of parties.

But, not in Israel, which has about as many active parties today as the number of its tribes thousands of years ago.

Ergo, Israel has a political system that generates chronically dysfunctional & ridiculous coalition governments, & ergo our system has to go.

The Zionist movement succeeded in creating a vital Jewish state splendid in so many ways — but, not in the exercise of self-government

What Israel needs is a constitutional convention. But only after its best legal minds go abroad in search of Gentile “Jethros” in the democratic West to teach them how to run a real representative democracy.

2.State Completes Destruction of Migron Despite No Arab Claims

Even despite the lack of Arab claims to the land on which Migron stands in Samaria’s Binyamin region, security forces evacuated the remaining buildings in the town early Wednesday morning, thereby completing the final destruction of the community.

In evacuating the last of the buildings, the forces followed a High Court ruling from January 6 that ordered the state to evacuate the last seven buildings in the town within 45 days.

Back in September 2012 Migron residents were expelled after the High Court accepted a suit by the radical leftist group Peace Now, thereby denying the claims of the Jewish residents & forcing them to move to a facility in Givat Hayekev.

Much of the town was destroyed after Arab residents of the area claimed ownership of the land – this despite the fact that the Arab claimants withdrew their lawsuit when requested to present proof of their claims.

Likewise, the Attorney General found that the Arab claims could not be substantiated.

But not to be deterred by facts, Peace Now stepped in & pushed the case on, eventually getting the High Court to rule that Jews cannot live on & develop any land not currently registered as state land.

The demolition on Wednesday comes after forces likewise destroyed buildings near Shiloh in Samaria on Tuesday, leading Eli Yishai’s Yachad – Ha’am Itanu to vow it will demand the government adopt the 2012 Levy Report, thereby halting the demolitions & recognizing the legal nature of Jewish construction in Judea & Samaria

3. I Know Exactly Who is to Blame for Adele Biton’s Death. The Arabs who threw the rock did not act alone. by Giulio Meotti Arutz Sheva IsraelNationalNews.com Published: Wednesday, February 18, 2015 6:14 AM

Little Adele Biton died from wounds sustained in a terrorist rock attack. Many eulogies will be published during the next few days & the Palestinian Arabs will be blamed, justifiably, for their vicious anti-Semitic infanticide.

3 by Giulio Meotti

The writer, an Italian journalist with Il Foglio, writes a twice-weekly column for Arutz Sheva. He is the author of the book “A New Shoah”, that researched the personal stories of Israel’s terror victims, published by Encounter. His writing has appeared in publications, such as the Wall Street Journal, Frontpage & Commentary. He has just published a book about the Vatican & Israel titled “J’Accuse: the Vatican Against Israel” published by Mantua Books.

But I know exactly who else is to blame.

I blame the ignoble Israeli Jewess Amir Hass. “Throwing stones is the right & the duty of anyone living under foreign rule”, wrote the official Haaretz correspondent for what the newspaper labels the “occupied territories”.
I blame Israel Prize laureate leftist Professor Zeev Sternhell, who praised “that wonderful boy who smashed a windshield”.

I blame those Israeli journalists who legitimize Palestinian nationalism & condone genocide. For them, stoning a Jew such as baby Adele is the minimum right granted by the international community.

I blame Western symbolic violence against the Jews, such as an 8,000-word New York Times magazine cover story justifying Palestinian Arab terrorism & calling for another Intifada. After all, weren’t the Palestinian Arabs who killed Adele Biton just fighting against “the occupation”? Weren’t they?

I blame Obama, because the truck driving in front of the Biton family was attacked during the Arab riots that erupted in Judea & Samaria ahead of the US President’s visit. What did Obama say then in front of an enraptured Israeli audience? “See the world through the eyes of Palestinians”. It was an invitation to “liberate” the territory “stolen by the Jews” in 1948 & in 1967.

I blame Pope Francis, who in Bethlehem celebrated mass in an altar facing a picture of baby Jesus wrapped in a keffiyeh, the symbol of Palestinian anti-Semitic irredentism, without saying a word in protest. Is that baby’s heir the Jewish child Biton or the Arab stonethrower who killed her?

I blame the decision makers of the IDF, which should have made the roads where the Bitons drove safer for the Jewish people – & for use only by the Jewish people. They failed, some of them on purpose because they want to see the Jews fleeing Judea & Samaria. Jews have been deprived by the IDF of the right to defend themselves & even to be protected.

I blame all the Jewish traitors in the Israeli NGOs such as Peace Now, Betzalem & Breaking the Silence, who invented “the land owners’ myth”.

Even before being killed, Adele Biton had become a passive pawn in the political surrender of her home & life, which, it seems, could only benefit humanity by disappearing.

I know exactly who’s to blame for this beautiful little Jewish girl’s death.

4. 4-Star Admiral’s Stunning Claim: Muslim Brotherhood Has Penetrated ALL of Obama’s National Security Agencies

by Brian Hayes | Top Right News

on February 7, 2015 in ISIS, Islam, Muslim Brotherhood, Muslims, Obama

A four star admiral, who was in charge of the largest single military command in the world, slammed Barack Obama, & warned Congress that the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated every U.S. National Security Agency under Obama’s administration.

The stunning claim, from one of America’s highest-ranking career officers, has shocked Washington, D.C., & came just days before Obama would invite more than a dozen Muslim Brotherhood leaders to a private, press-banned meeting in the White House.

Admiral James A. Lyons – the former Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, the largest single military command in the world, & “the father” of Red Cell – the Navy’s anti-terrorism units – said that “the transformation of America has been in full swing ever since 2008,” the year Obama was elected based upon his campaign promise to “fundamentally transform America.”

Lyons unleashed a plea to end the flood of Muslim Brotherhood infiltration into every U.S. National Security branch by the Obama Administration:

“No question we’ve got a hell of a job ahead of us with the Muslim Brotherhood penetration in every one of our national security agencies, including all our intelligence agencies, & has been reported by some, our lead intelligence agency headed by a Muslim convert (a reference to CIA Director John Brennan, long rumored to have converted to Islam in the 1990’s in Baghdad). This is not going to be an easy task.”

The new GOP majority in both houses of Congress were elected to “stop the transformation of America, not to see how they could work with the president.”

Admiral Lyons asserted that there is no such thing as radical Islam, but that “Islam is Islam.” “The threat is Islam. Let’s make no mistake about it. There’s no such thing as radical Islam,” Lyons asserted.

US State Department reported to say Israelis would ‘twist details’ to undermine negotiations

BY AVI LEWIS February 18, 2015, 3:08 pm

Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman speaks to the press in Jerusalem on February 22, 2014. According to reports, Sherman cautioned her European counterparts from disclosing information to Israel on the Iranian nuclear deal (screen capture: YouTube)

European officials have confirmed that the US State Department cautioned them against providing Israel with sensitive information on the current round of negotiations with Iran over its alleged nuclear weapons program, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

The account came amid vehement denials by the White House & State Department that they had stopped updating Jerusalem on the progress in the talks, even though Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted Monday that Israel was indeed being kept in the dark.

The report quoted an unnamed European official involved in negotiations who said he was told recently by the State Department’s Wendy Sherman, the lead American negotiator with Iran, not to disclose too much information to the Israelis because “the details could be twisted to undermine a deal.”

Another unnamed State Department official speaking on Sherman’s behalf noted that talk with Israel was encouraged, so long as it remained clear “that the negotiation should take place in the negotiating room,” a reference to the fact that Israel is not directly involved in the talks.

The comments echoed those of an Israeli official interviewed for the report who quipped that he received only “empty” briefings on the looming deal, signaling perhaps a further chill in ties between the Obama administration & the Jewish state that The New York Times compared to “posting notes to each other on a refrigerator door.”

Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that the Iranian nuclear program is an existential threat to Israel & that Tehran is intent on developing nuclear weapons to use against the Jewish state.

To that effect, Netanyahu vowed to go ahead with a speech before the US Congress on March 3 to discuss the looming nuclear deal, raising the ire of the White House, some US congressmen & his political opponents in Israel.

The report quoted another European official who said that US Secretary of State John Kerry was “fuming about [the] Israeli leaks” following a report Sunday on Channel 2 to the effect that the administration has been withholding information from Israel.

According to the TV report, US National Security Adviser Susan Rice had cut off contact with Israeli National Security Adviser Yossi Cohen, while Sherman was quoted as saying that she will no longer keep Israel informed either.

The report was hurriedly denied by both US & Israeli officials.

Kerry, who has been leading the negotiations along with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammed Javad Zarif, argued that it was in no one’s interest to negotiate in public.

Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States & Germany — known as the P5+1 — have been seeking a comprehensive accord with Iran that would prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear bomb in return for an easing of economic sanctions.

PM Benjamin Netanyahu: When we say the current proposal would lead to a bad deal, we know what we’re talking about • Obama administration officials accuse Israel of inaccurate leaks on Iran talks • Jeb Bush: I’m eager to hear Netanyahu speak to Congress.

The Obama administration said Wednesday that it was withholding from Israel some sensitive details regarding it nuclear negotiations with Iran because it is worried that Israeli government officials have leaked information to try to scuttle the talks – & will continue to do so.

In extraordinary admissions that reflect increasingly strained ties between the U.S. & Israel, the White House & State Department said they were not sharing everything from the negotiations with the Israelis & complained that Israeli officials had misrepresented what they had been told in the past.

The comments came as a late March deadline to forge the outline of an Iran nuclear deal looms & U.S. & Iranian negotiators prepare for a new round of talks later this week in Geneva, Switzerland.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has angered the White House with his open opposition to a deal he insists threatens Israel’s existence, & by accepting a Republican invitation to address Congress about the dangers of a nuclear deal with Iran.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Wednesday that sharing all details of the negotiations with governments that are not at the table would complicate efforts to get a deal that would prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon in exchange for sanctions relief.

The talks are being held among the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council — Britain, China, France, Russia & the United States — along with Germany & Iran.

“The United States is not going to be in a position of negotiating this agreement in public, particularly when we see that there is a continued practice of cherry-picking specific pieces of information & using them out of context to distort the negotiating position of the United States,” Earnest said when asked whether the U.S. was limiting the amount of information it shared with Israel about the talks.

“So, there is an obligation when you’re participating in these kinds of negotiations to ensure that those consultations & that those negotiations are carried out in good faith. & that means giving negotiators the room & the space to negotiate,” he said.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki went further, confirming that one of the steps the administration takes to ensure that “classified negotiating details stay behind closed doors” is to withhold them from Israel. She also directly blamed Israel for mischaracterizing the talks. I think it’s safe to say that not everything you’re hearing from the Israeli government is an accurate reflection of the details of the talks,” she said. “There’s a selective sharing of information.” [????!!! Psaki says Israel is lying???Outrageous. Gail]

Psaki did note that “we continue to consult…with our Israeli colleagues & we continue to get into specific issues in these consultations.”

But while Earnest & Psaki said the limitations on information sharing were longstanding, U.S. officials more directly involved in the talks said the decision to withhold the most sensitive details of the negotiations dated back only several weeks.

Those officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, said the administration believes Netanyahu, who is facing a March 17 election at home, has made a political decision to try to destroy the negotiations rather than merely insist on a good deal. This, they said, had led to politically motivated leaks from Israeli officials & made it impossible to continue to share all details of the talks, particularly as Netanyahu has not backed down on his vow to argue against a nuclear deal when he speaks to Congress.

Meanwhile Wednesday, Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman, America’s lead negotiator with Iran, met with Israeli National Security Adviser Yossi Cohen.

In Jerusalem on Wednesday, Netanyahu met with visiting Republican Senator David Perdue of Georgia. At the start of their meeting, Netanyahu said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is relentlessly pursuing nuclear weapons with the express purpose of destroying the State of Israel. The P5+1’s latest proposal won’t stop them. The Iranians of course know the details of that proposal & Israel does too. So when we say that the current proposal would lead to a bad deal, a dangerous deal, we know what we’re talking about, Senator. I’m open to hearing the positions & arguments of those who think differently & I would hope that they would be open to hear the arguments of Israel as well.”

& while some Democrats continue to express reservations about Netanyahu’s upcoming address to Congress, potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush said Wednesday in a speech in Chicago that he was “eager” to hear Netanyahu speak. Bush said he was “surprised that the [Obama] administration is upset to hear from such a close ally.”

Bush also criticized President Barack Obama’s approach to Iran’s nuclear efforts, urging Congress to ramp up sanctions if negotiations fail adding that any agreement the Obama administration reaches with Iran should be subject to congressional approval.

7.Uri Orbach, Israel Minister For Senior Citizens, who died at age 54 this week By David Bedein from: Israel Resource Review

6

The legacy of a person is often determined by the final acts of that person in his life.

Two years ago, Uri Orbach assumed the position as the Israel government minister for senior citizens affairs, an unusual task for a government minister.

Many people in Israel did not understand what that job involved.

Our family got to know, firsthand what Orbach’s job entailed, when our daughter, Meira, was assigned to work with recently widowed older women in Ashkelon, as part of her National Service, under the auspices of Uri Orbach, Minister for Senior citizens affairs.

We witnessed a well organized program, which facilitated clean, modern apartments for Meira & other young women to live in for the year in Askelon, as they worked in a professional setting, with hours designated each day for home visits with each of the women whom they were assigned to help. Every step of the program was well done. My wife & I got to meet each of these widows being helped along with Meira’s professional supervisors.

In short, our many years in Israel had not prepared us for such a well efficient operation in social service.

As Meira’s service continued over the year, I dropped by Uri Orbach’s Knesset office on a number of occasions to convey personal thanks & to offer to publicize Uri for a job well done.

Uri’s associates conveyed thanks & mentioned that Uri was involved in every step of supervision over the program for older people, appropriately called HADARTA (YOU SHALL RESPECT…THE ELDERLY, but said that Uri was too busy & not able to engage in “promotion”.

Other journalists had the same experience. Reporters who knew his ministerial work who wanted to write nice things were finding that Uri was simply “not available”.

Now we know why. It is not too late, however, to say that Uri Orbach brought dignity to older people in his last two years of life

Soon after the jihadist attacks in Copenhagen, Danish Prime Minister, Thorning-Schmidt declared, “this is not a conflict between Islam & the West…this is a conflict between the core values of our society & violent extremists.

To this, a Northern European Christian friend who does not wish to be named for fear of ending up on the “Inspire” magazine target list, wrote, “As long as Denmark political & media elites refuse to acknowledge the Islamist threat, this will not be the last jihadi attack in Denmark.”

Indeed, the Islamist attacks in Copenhagen on Saturday were all but expected & the Danes should have been better prepared.

7

8

Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld

Soon after the Charlie Hebdo & the Jewish supermarket attacks in Paris, Saudi Imam Issa Assiri, in a televised sermon at the Sa’eed bin Jubair Mosque in Jeddah, which was also posted on Facebook, reminded his audience, “Cursing or mocking the Prophet is an act of apostasy, as all scholars concur, whether it is done seriously or in jest. Anyone who does this, Muslim or infidel, must be killed, even if he repents. [Emphasis added]”

So when the Danish police claimed the 22 years old Danish born Muslim, Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein, was “a Lone Wolf,” they continued to ignore & therefore hold responsible those who influence him & his ilk, even if he was the only shooter. Nor was he “self radicalized.”

He was a sheep inspired by repeated Islamist propaganda & incitement for jihad, targeting those who “offend” their prophet Mohammad, & the Jews, & calling on the “sons of Islam, who reside in Europe, America, Australia, France, & Denmark, to become ‘Lone Wolves’, to “light fires beneath the infidels feet.” Moreover, according to Danes, he had at least several co-conspirators.

The Danes should have known better, but they continue to ignore the writings on the wall. Instead, they have compromised their “values” & in the name of “tolerance” suppressed free expression.

Free expression in Denmark, as in most European countries, is limited by draconian libel & hate speech & hate crimes laws. These laws are written so broadly as to allow a suit by almost anyone who claims that he or she feels insulted or intimidated by a public statement. The truth does not matter. The prosecution is subjective & the judgment can be entirely based on the plaintiff’s misguided perception. Many European countries have similar low standards for defamation suits. Speaking one’s mind risks civil & criminal suits, especially since truth is not a defense. Threats of frivolous & costly lawsuits, terrorist threats & European Left leaning politics contributed to increased political correctness.

The Saturday attacks in Copenhagen did not surprise Danish reporter & former chairman of the Free Press Society, Lars Hedegaard.

In 2010 he was found not guilty of “racism” charges, which were brought earlier that year against him for a comment he made in a party at his home that Muslims practice “honor killings.” Hedegaard argued in his defense that he was unaware that his comment would be published on a Blog & eventually was found not guilty. But the threats to his life did not stop. In February 2014 he survived a shooting attempt on his life.

Mr. Hedegaard’s prosecution in 2010 came after the cowardly public apology by the Danish daily Politiken, for reprinting the Mohammed cartoons in 2008.

The newspaper’s mea culpa was not surprising. Earlier its publishers told this author that free expression was not the optimal approach to a potentially expensive suit.

Politiken’s apology was part of the settlement with a Saudi lawyer representing 94,923 of Muhammad’s descendants, who sued the paper for offending them. This submission not only encouraged Islamists everywhere, but also contributed to further political correctness towards Muslims.

Commenting on this my Northern European friend asked, “Do we really need more dead in the name of Islam here in the west? Are we all just supposed to believe lies about a few bewildered Muslims when they kill more & more people in the West? What will it take for our leaders to speak out on Islam’s war on us! & why were the Café – where the free speech debate took place – & the Jewish synagogue, both predictable targets for Islamists, not properly guarded?” he wandered. Why indeed.

9While U.S. President Barack Obama determinedly pursues his policy of appeasement, which may enable the world’s most dangerous terrorist state to become a nuclear threshold power, there are Israelis & American Jews who have initiated a campaign against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The campaign calling for the maintenance of bipartisanship toward Israel, is in reality undermining the hitherto strong bipartisan congressional opposition to the catastrophic U.S. policy toward Iran.

Israeli opposition groups & the anti-Netanyahu media are now concentrating their efforts on discrediting & calling on the prime minister to cancel his address to the joint session of Congress scheduled for March 3.

Disregarding the gravity of the negotiations with Iran — the underlying reason for the invitation — they accuse Netanyahu of destroying the U.S.-Israeli relationship by failing to obtain Obama’s advance approval to address Congress (which would never have been forthcoming). The White House even falsely alleged that Netanyahu accepted the invitation before they were aware of it.

Labor leader Isaac Herzog, in an irresponsible breach of propriety while attending a conference on security in Munich, slandered the prime minister, calling on “Bibi to act as a patriot … cancel his speech … which was born in sin … & not throw Israel’s security under the bus of the elections.” The timing of his comments were even more shameful as on that same day & in the same city, Secretary of State John Kerry was meeting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Zarif.

Similar sentiments were echoed by other political leaders, whose primitive electioneering tactics display utter indifference & contempt for the repercussions on the greatest threat facing Israel.

They warn that Israel would suffer serious ramifications if Netanyahu persisted in addressing Congress & demand that he postpone his address until after the elections — when the “negotiations” would be over.

They also accuse him of forcing Democrats to choose between supporting their president or undermining his policies, & thus destroying bipartisanship. That surely sends the wrong message to Congress about limiting Obama’s actions. Worse still, it sends bad vibes to American Jews, reinforcing their inability to stand up & protest against Obama’s hostile policies. The White House, of course, uses this to discredit Netanyahu on the grounds that he is merely engaged in an electoral stunt.

Truth be told, a failure by Netanyahu in this area could cost him the election.

But Iran has genuinely been Netanyahu’s greatest concern & without his intervention, would already be a nuclear state.

Israel remains the target for annihilation by the Holocaust-denying Iranians who brazenly repeat their determination to eradicate the “cancerous” Israel from the map. Yet Israel is marginalized by the P5+1 nations determining the outcome.

Netanyahu regarded the invitation not only as a means to promote his case to Congress but as a platform to convey his message to the entire world.

But this is ignored by his Israeli political opponents who are more concerned with electoral populism than displaying a united front in the face of an existential threat.

Yet Obama is on extremely shaky ground. Even the normally supportive Washington Post published an editorial warning him against presenting the world with a fait accompli over Iran’s nuclear goals & granting them regional hegemony. It accused Obama of seeking “to avoid congressional review because he suspects a bipartisan majority would oppose the deal he is prepared to make.”

It is in fact Obama, not Netanyahu, who has made this a partisan issue, because of his fear that an effective presentation by Netanyahu at Congress could have a major impact on legislators & the public. It is this, rather than pre-election protocol, that explains the frenzied efforts & threats that the White House has engaged to discredit Netanyahu.

Netanyahu’s efforts are also being undermined by extreme left-wing groups like J Street calling on congressmen to boycott his speech & launching petitions proclaiming that he does not represent the views of American Jews.

This is buttressed by media court Jews like New York Times columnist Tom Friedman resurrecting the traditional anti-Semitic dual loyalties accusation, warning Jews that if they protested against Obama’s policies on Iran, Americans would be convinced that Israel controlled Washington, was responsible for the war in Iraq & was now dragging the U.S. into another war.

American Jews claim that they live in a unique democratic country & enjoy full equality. Yet, whereas most Americans have no hesitation in criticizing their president when they disagree with his policies, the traditionally feisty & outspoken American Jewish leaders seem fearful to criticize their president even in the most respectful terms. This, even after Obama’s repeatedly & crudely appalling behavior aimed at humiliating his ally, the Israeli prime minister, in direct contrast to his servility to representatives of rogue states including Iran.

On this issue, most of the Jewish leadership establishment remained silent. This included the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, whose officials, according to the White House, privately distanced themselves from Netanyahu’s visit.

To his credit, Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, was one of the few mainstream leaders stressing that Netanyahu’s intention was neither to personally attack the president nor become engaged in U.S. domestic politics. Rather, it was to promote Israel’s concerns about developments that it considers an existential threat & great danger to the world.

But shockingly, a number of Jewish leaders also publicly slammed Netanyahu. Abe Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, went so far as to describe the issue as a “circus” & called on House Speaker John Boehner“to withdraw” the invitation & Netanyahu to rescind his acceptance. He was followed by Rabbi Rick Jacobs of the Reform movement, who said Netanyahu’s speech was “a bad idea” & urged him “to bite the bullet & postpone his address” or he would “turn Israel into a partisan issue.”

This was outrageous. Who gave Foxman & Jacobs a mandate to challenge the decision of Israel’s prime minister to appeal against enabling the Iranian terrorist state from becoming a nuclear state — an act of appeasement that would dwarf Chamberlain’s concessions to Hitler in Munich? Foxman’s subsequent effort to modify his outburst by condemning J Street’s “inflammatory & repugnant campaign” against Netanyahu did not detract from the damage he caused.

Jacobs & Foxman may have convinced themselves that by seeking to avoid a conflict with their president, they were acting on the side of the angels. It was left to the hawkish Zionist Organization of America to bitterly condemn their intervention & make chilling parallels between their behavior & that of Rabbi Stephen Wise who in 1944 had urged Jewish leaders to cease campaigning to pressure the White house to intervene on behalf of the Jews in Europe in order not to embarrass President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Today, Netanyahu is desperately appealing to the world to prevent an evil apocalyptical Islamic terrorist state, committed to Israel’s destruction, from becoming a nuclear power. Yet Foxman & Jacobs seem more concerned to placate their president. In making such negative statements, it is they who are transforming this into a partisan issue & providing enormous satisfaction to Iranian mullahs who undoubtedly appreciate their efforts. Shame on them!

Not surprisingly, the White House exploited these outbursts as a means of encouraging Democrats to boycott the address. The president even shed crocodile tears bemoaning that Israel would become a partisan issue. Conveniently, Vice President Joe Biden announced that he would be out of the country & unable to attend. Yet very few Democrats have indicated that they would absent themselves. Indeed, while unhappy with the timing, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said she would attend & dismissed calls for a boycott. Rep. Eliot Engel, the senior Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, also made it clear that he intended to hear what Netanyahu had to say.

There is in fact a growing awareness that Obama’s proposed deal represents a sellout to the Iranians. What were hitherto considered wild accusations that Obama was abandoning the traditional allies of the U.S. in order to enter into an alliance with the Iranians, has now become a genuine concern.

Netanyahu’s speech from a U.S. Congress platform will undoubtedly enjoy massive media exposure & may bring public pressure on the P5+1 countries to refrain from committing an act that would have horrific implications not only for Israel but the entire world.

Those committed to overcoming the global threat of Islamic fundamentalism & preserving the well-being of the Jewish state should pray that Netanyahu will succeed in his efforts.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday indicated that if he is re-elected he will act to remove legislation that allows for the jailing of ultra-Orthodox men who refuse to show up for their national service — a move that drew praise from ultra-Orthodox parties who may be key players in Netanyahu’s next coalition.

The revelation came as the prime minister hosted a group of journalists from the ultra-Orthodox, or Haredi community, in a meet-the-press event at his residence in Jerusalem.

During the meeting Netanyahu declared that he intends to include the Haredi parties in a future government, giving them a seat at the table after they were frozen out of the previous coalition, mainly due to the success of the Yesh Atid party.

After the event ended, during an informal chat with some of the ultra-Orthodox reporters, the prime minister was reportedly asked if he would cancel controversial criminal sanctions in the so-called universal draft law that aims to ensure Haredi men are drafted into the army or other national service.

“The idea that people sit in prison over their faith is unthinkable,” Netanyahu replied, according to Hebrew media reports, & indicated that he would accede to ultra-Orthodox demands that the sanctions be revoked.

The universal draft law resulted from a determined drive by the Yesh Atid party during the previous government to see the Haredi community compelled into doing national service, & included articles enabling the imprisonment of those who fail to turn up for their service.

On Monday, four Haredi men were released after spending nearly a month in prison for refusing to turn up for army service. Thousands turned out to celebrate their release & demonstrated against the draft law.

Some 50 men were arrested in demonstrations against the draft in recent weeks in Jerusalem, Ashdod, Elad & the ultra-Orthodox Tel Aviv suburb of Bnei Brak.

IDF service has long been rejected by the ultra-Orthodox community, which enjoyed sweeping exemptions until the draft law was passed last year.

Knesset member Eli Yishai, chairman of the newly formed Yachad party, which splintered from the ultra-Orthodox Shas, welcomed Netanyahu’s remarks.

“The Yesh Atid party, with its brutality, brought hatred & a rift among the people, reducing the motivation to join the Nahal Haredi unit, according to the defense minister’s [own] statistics,” he said, referencing an infantry unit that caters to the religious needs of ultra-Orthodox conscripts.

Yesh Atid accused the prime minister of self-serving maneuvering.

“Netanyahu has proved once again that the only thing on his mind is his own political survival,” the party said in a statement.

Recent polls have shown the three ultra-Orthodox parties — Shas, Yachad & United Torah Judaism — winning some 18 Knesset seats in the Knesset elections on March 17, thus having a strong bargaining position in coalition talks should Netanyahu’s Likud party be tapped to lead.

Israel Radio reported Wednesday that the Haredi parties are expected to announce in the coming days their intention to recommend Netanyahu, who leads the Likud party, as their candidate of choice to form the next coalition after the elections.

Under Israeli law, following an election the president accepts recommendations from each of the factions that win seats as to which party leader has the best chances of forming a stable government. The recommendations are crucial in that they decide which of the prime ministerial hopefuls gets the first shot at forming a government.

12.The state comptroller’s double standard 13 by Mati Tuchfeld

You would think the opposition parties would be the first to seize on the state comptroller’s report on the expenses at the Prime Minister’s Residence. But on Tuesday, when the report was finally made available, they were not hungry for a fight. The criticism they sounded lacked any emotion. They seemed to be hesitating.

A few weeks ago, the opposition parties took off their gloves & pounded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu & his wife Sara for the bottle-deposit money they allegedly mishandled. But lo & behold, the Likud poll numbers shot up in the wake of that merciless attack.

This time around, the opposition figured it would be better to let the media do its bidding while it assesses the situation. Although they are not sure whether there is any electoral gain to be made in this affair, there is one thing they are certain of: there is zero chance this story will still be generating headlines by the time voters go to the polls on March 17th.

Once the embargo had been lifted on Tuesday, news outlets parsed every word of the report. Live panels started chattering on the radio, on television, & on the Internet. Not a comma was left unscrutinized by the pundits. But now, with nothing left unsaid (even the former superintendent at the residence has spoken to the nation), this report will be filed in some cabinet & fade from our collective memory, like many previous reports. Of course, my working assumption is that law enforcement agencies will not breathe new life into the findings by launching a new probe.

Thus, it is safe to assume that the report will likely have a minor impact on the upcoming elections. A snowstorm is brewing. The evening news are going to be dominated by weather-related stories over the next few days. Then, our attention will shift to Netanyahu’s U.S. visit & his speech to Congress. Once again the news cycle will be driven by Iran & Netanyahu, not by the report.

The state comptroller’s report is not an easy read. There are some parts that are pretty troubling. But you cannot escape the fact that the report is essentially channeling the press & dovetails with its own findings. In fact, the various controversies the media has exposed were incorporated into the report. The timing of the report — with elections just a month away — was essentially dictated by the media (the state comptroller had planned to release his findings only after the elections, but was forced to change his mind in light of a media onslaught). More than anything else, the report is an aggregation of rehashed stories that have already been discussed ad nauseam.

What’s more striking though is the double standard the comptroller applied. The report on Netanyahu scrutinized his every action. Every single page has at least one juicy detail about his make-up routine, the tidiness of the residence, his takeout meals, his water consumption & the employment of a special electrician. The report on former President Shimon Peres, however, is very pedestrian. Its language is anything but sensational, although it leaves one question unanswered: How did the budget for the President’s Residence surge 20 percent every year to a figure of 60 million shekels ($16 million)? With all due deference to the comptroller, why did he employ delicate language on Peres? After all, Netanyahu’s expenses seem like peanuts compared to the staggering expenses at the President’s Residence.

13.Obama’s Iran Policy & Netanyahu’s Visit Prof. Efraim Inbar

Obama does not want Netanyahu in Washington because he considers him a spoiler of his most important foreign policy initiative – an agreement with Iran. The PM might try the military option, & destroy Obama’s only foreign policy “success.” Arutz Sheva IsraelNationalNews.com Feb. 18, 2015

http://f.a7.org/Resizer.ashx/news/136/136/384331.jpg?autocrop=1&grayscale=1Prof. Efraim Inbar The author is Professor in Political Studies at Bar-Ilan University & the director of the Begin-Sadat (BESA) Center for Strategic Studies, & is a Shillman/Ginsburg fellow at the Middle East Forum.

Unfortunately, there are many sources of tension between the Obama administration & Netanyahu’s government. The main issue of discord is, of course Iran. Obama seeks an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran over its nuclear program that will allow President Obama to claim that he prevented Tehran from building the bomb. The fact that Iran will maintain the capability to enrich uranium, & will not dismantle any of its nuclear installations, is simply swept under the rug as insignificant.

Strange as it sounds, it seems that Obama is prepared to brand Iran as a US strategic partner in the attempt to bring stability to a region beleaguered by chaos.

Part of this realignment involves American capitulation on the nuclear issue, & an apparent ‘carte blanche’ for stepped up Iranian activity & influence in the region. Iran is taking over Yemen (and throwing American diplomats out of the country); carving a sphere of influence in Iraq; continuing to support the brutal Assad regime in Damascus; strengthening Hezbollah’s grip over Lebanon; engaging in subversion in Central Asia; & developing its terrorist apparatus

Obama, perhaps obsessively, now wants the relationship with Iran to serve as his foreign policy legacy.
In the context of Obama’s “Grand Bargain” with Iran, all this seems to be okay. Tehran gets all it wants, while Washington gets an Iranian promise not to go nuclear as long as Obama is in the White House. Having made no foreign policy achievements throughout his presidency, Obama, perhaps obsessively, now wants the relationship with Iran to serve as his foreign policy legacy.

This foolish behavior negatively affects America’s own position in the Middle East, as well as the national interests of its closest ally, Israel. Obama does not care about American international stature. He has advocated a retrenched position in world affairs. Israel, as well, has never been close to his heart, but Obama understands that Israeli concerns strike a sensitive chord with the American public.

This is precisely why he does not want Netanyahu to speak in the US Congress. Obama fears that Netanyahu’s planned March 3 speech could become a catalyst for a public debate about his own dangerous policy toward Iran. He does not want undue publicity for his dangerous foreign policy gambit. The last thing he needs is a gifted orator such as Netanyahu pointing out the glaring deficiencies in the American approach toward Iran.

& this is precisely why Netanyahu is determined to defy Obama’s wishes. The gravity of the Iranian threat is understood by Israelis of all political hues. As long as there is a chance, however slight, that an address to Congress will reinvigorate the public debate in the US on Iran, & obstruct the administration’s attempt to sign a deal, Netanyahu feels compelled to make a stand against all odds to halt a bad deal with Iran. Paradoxically, Obama’s efforts to prevent Netanyahu from visiting Washington, & to convince Congress members to boycott the session, only increase the interest in what Israel’s prime minister has to say.

Beyond the personal animosity & the vast difference in worldviews, Obama does not want Netanyahu around because he considers Israel’s prime minister a serious spoiler of his most important foreign policy initiative. But it is not only in Washington that Obama considers Netanyahu to be unwelcome. Obama wishes to be rid of Netanyahu in Jerusalem as well. This is not the first time we have been witness to American intervention in Israeli elections; with the White House showing displeasure with Likud candidates, & enlisting Jewish activists & donors for the anti-Netanyahu campaign.

Obama does not want Netanyahu as prime minister of Israel even after a deal is signed with Iran. He has no desire to be exposed to Netanyahu’s continued criticism, based on the realization that the proposed deal has many loopholes, or based upon probable Iranian violations of the agreement. He also takes seriously Netanyahu’s statement that Israel is not bound by America’s unilateral agreements. In Obama’s view, a paranoid Netanyahu may still revert to the military option, & thereby destroy his only foreign policy “success.”

Obama is probably right on this point. Among the candidates for prime minister in the Israeli elections, only Netanyahu is passionate about Iran, & only Netanyahu would consider ordering the IDF to attack Iranian nuclear installations in defiance of the United States. While the campaign in Israel is focused more on personalities than on issues, the underlying theme of the elections is the Iranian threat & who is best placed & most experienced to tackle this challenge.

Obama’s Iran Policy & Netanyahu’s Visit Prof. Efraim Inbar

14.Saudi Arabia Must Help End Islamist Terrorism By Michael Curtis, AMERICAN THINKER

In recent days, the dark ideology of Islamic terrorism has been implemented, among other places, by massacres in a kosher deli in Paris, in Belgium towns, outside a synagogue in Copenhagen, & in Libya where dozens of Christian Copts have been murdered. It must be countered.

Destiny makes Saudi Arabia crucial in the war against terrorism. Despite the fact that is responsible for funding & supporting the development of jihad & Islamist terrorism, it must now change its strategy & transform itself into the key leader in the war against what has become the Islamist menace to all civilization, including its own.

Saudi Arabia is a Janus-head personified, politically & religiously, by an agreement made in 1744 when the leader of the Saud family made a pact with the founder of Wahhabism, the extreme form of Sunni Islam. In exchange for their support of the Saud family, that family would protect followers of Wahhabism & adhere to its doctrine. The country still rests on that pact, an alliance between the royal family & the ulema, the religious elite of scholars. The wheels of change grind slowly in Saudi Arabia, a country led by a ruling family, the aging sons of the King Abdulaziz, the founder of the regime in 1932.

Power is divided between the two sets of authority: the ulema control mosques, culture, & education; the monarchy controls foreign & military policy. But the religious authorities have considerable influence over government decisions, in the judicial & educational systems, & in religious & social behavior. The Council of Senior Ulama, advises the king on religious matters. The religious police force, Committee for the Promotion of Virtue & the Prevention of Vice, enforces dress codes & other personal behavior.

The House of Saud is an autocratic & virtually absolute monarchy, now headed by King Salman aged 79, who had been governor of Riyadh for 48 years. The country developed its economy & lives on its oil wealth, possessing the largest oil reserves & being the biggest oil exporter in the world.

The sins of Saudi Arabia are familiar. Everyone is aware of the lack of freedom in the kingdom, & especially its inequity regarding women who are treated as the property of male relatives. A number of reforms, introduced by the late King Abdullah, allow women to play a more visible role in public life. However, women are still restricted in many ways. They are still controlled by male guardians who must give them permission to travel, work, or get medical treatment. They are not legally permitted to drive a car.

At the core of this disregard for human rights is the religious influence. The problem for Saudi Arabia is the reliance of the royal family on the extremist Wahhabi version of Islam. Article 1 of the 1992 Saudi Basic Law of Governance states, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a sovereign Arab Islamic State… Its constitution is the Holy Koran, & the Sunni Traditions of the Prophet.” Illustrating the connection, King Fahd in 1986 changed his title from “His Majesty” to “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques,” Mecca & Medina. Sharia law is the basis of the legal system.

Wahhabism sustains the country. It declares that it perpetuates the religious purity of the Prophet Muhammad, & commands obedience to the state. It propagates an ideology of hatred of Shias, as well as Christians & Jews. It believes in strict punishment for offenders. Little dissent is allowed, journalists are arrested & flogged, & criticism of its doctrine is severely punished. Human rights are violated by arbitrary arrest & secret trials. Estimates suggest that more than 5,000 people are political prisoners. Paradoxically, in spite of its lack of human rights Saudi Arabia was elected a member of the UN Human Rights Council for 2014-2016.

Because of its alliance with Wahhabism, Saudi Arabia has been the world’s largest funder & promoter of jihadism. It has contributed to the explosion of Islamist terrorism around the world. More than $100 billion has been spent on exporting the Wahhabi jihadist interpretation of Islam. Saudi Arabia has funded more than 1500 mosques & madrassas (Islamic schools), has provided training for countless fundamentalist imams, financed media & publishing companies to issue textbooks advocating jihad, created fellowship programs to promote an extremist point of view in academic programs & cultural centers. Wahhabism is the ideological basis of al-Qaeda, the Taliban, the Islamic State in Iraq & Syria, & terrorist groups throughout the world.

If Saudi Arabia is going to find solutions to the complex, interrelated problems with which it is confronted, it has to loosen its ties to & its reliance on Wahhabism. There are four basic problems. One problem is its decisions on the production & price of oil, & the impact of those decisions on the economies of outside countries: the U.S. shale industry, Russia, & especially on Iran. Another is the concern about President Barack Obama’s actions regarding a nuclear agreement with Iran. A third is the challenge to the Saudis & the ambition of Iran to become the dominant power in the Middle East. But the fourth underlies the first three: it is the dominant threat to Saudi Arabia itself as well as the rest of the world of the continuing & expanding Islamist terrorism.

There are signs that the Saudis have begun to understand the Islamist threat they have done so much to unleash. They have gone so far as to censure President Obama for his weak, inadequate response to Islamic terrorism. In 2011, Saudi Arabia criticized the Obama administration for its withdrawal of support for Egyptian President Mubarak, & for giving some approval to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. In contrast to the U.S., Saudi Arabia supported & assisted the military coup that overthrew Egyptian President Morsi & the Muslim Brotherhood-led government in Egypt. Above all the Saudis criticized Obama for his unseemly haste to court & negotiate with Iranian President Hasan Rouhani on nuclear issues.

In a political surprise, Saudi Arabia, after being elected to a non-permanent rotating seat on the UN Security Council on October 17, 2013, turned it down, accusing the body of “double standards” that prevent it from carrying out its duties & responsibilities in keeping world peace & security. In effect it was a reprimand of U.S. policy. The Saudis had given advance approval to the anticipated U.S. strike on Syria after President Assad had used chemical weapons to kill his own people. But Obama did not launch a punitive strike against Syria which had crossed the “red line,” he had drawn as an ultimatum, & the international community also failed to act.

The Saudis fear that Obama will make a deal with Iran that will not effectively reduce its nuclear capacity. They are attempting, among other things, to check Iranian influence by providing funding for the Lebanese military, engaged in the struggle against Hezb’Allah.

These actions suggest that the Saudis are now conscious both of the havoc in the world resulting from jihadism & the danger of a powerful Iran. Saudi Arabia must go further & play a major role in extinguishing the flame of the dark Islamist ideology. Its royal family must limit the influence of Wahhabism in the country & the spread of its ideas abroad. By ending all funding of groups relating to terrorist activities, controlling the use of mosques & madrassas used for terrorist purposes, limiting the training of fundamentalist imams, & declaring that jihadism is not warranted by true Muslims, it can accomplish from within what the democratic West, so far, has been unable to do from without.

Recently resigned US special envoy Martin Indyk (photo credit: Miriam Alster/Flash90/File)

15 Raphael Ahren is diplomatic correspondent at The Times of Israel.

The United States should offer Israel a “nuclear guarantee” before signing an agreement with Iran about its rogue nuclear program, a former top American foreign policy official suggested Tuesday.

Martin Indyk, a former American envoy to Israel & mediator in Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, said such a deal would serve to assuage Jerusalem’s fear about Tehran violating the deal & subsequently dashing toward a bomb.

“The United States can afford to have Iran as a near-threshold nuclear power. & Israel is saying it can’t. & that’s related to the very different security circumstances of the US & Israel,” Indyk said during a panel discussion at the Institute for National Security Studies’ annual conference in Tel Aviv. “Instead of having an argument about that, the United States should enter immediately into discussions with Israel about a nuclear guarantee for Israel.”

Such an arrangement would take the form of a bilateral treaty, Indyk explained.

“It would require legislation & I believe it would pass pretty much unanimously,” he said.

The guarantee would commit the US to take some sort of action should Iran cross a certain threshold, though Indyk did not say exactly what the specific contours of such a deal would take.

Also known as nuclear umbrellas, guarantees are often used by nuclear-states as a promise to protect smaller allies.

Israel first demanded a nuclear guarantee during the Camp David peace talks 15 years ago, said Indyk, who at the time served as Washington’s ambassador to Israel.

Then-prime minister Ehud Barak asked US president Bill Clinton to provide such a guarantee in the framework of a potential peace agreement with the Palestinians.

Clinton agreed, according to Indyk, who served as the president’s special assistant & as senior director for Near East affairs at the National Security Council.

The treaty he is proposing now would be “a different kind of deal, but it might go a considerable distance toward calming Israeli concerns about the consequences of an Iranian reneging on the commitments,” Indyk said.

Itamar Rabinovich, a former Israeli ambassador to Washington, who also participated in the panel, said Jerusalem should view such a guarantee carefully, since any agreement with the US would surely preclude any Israeli military action against Iran’s nuclear program.

“Israel’s freedom of action would be limited. You cannot ask for an automatic American guarantee & then go act on your own,” he said.

Indyk in his remarks also criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s controversial insistence to address US Congress later this month on the Iranian issue, indicating that it turned support for Israel’s position into a partisan issue.

“One has to think about what exactly is going to be achieved by this speech,” said Indyk, who served as the US administration’s special envoy for the last round of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. “Is it really going to turn around the minds of the president of the United States & his negotiators? Will they suddenly wake up & say, ‘Oh we’re negotiating a bad deal here, silly us, we’ll change our minds’? Will it convince a veto-proof majority in the Senate that they should act in a way to sink the deal?”

US President Barack Obama has vowed to veto any bill that would call for additional sanctions on Iran as long as the nuclear negotiations are ongoing.

Netanyahu’s speech might have been able to influence American lawmakers if it had been arranged in a way that would create bipartisan support for Israel’s understandable concern about a potential nuclear deal with Iran, Indyk posited.

“But the Republicans don’t have 60 votes in the Senate. They don’t have the votes without the Democrats to do anything. Without those votes, the speech is not going to be able to achieve anything,” he said.

But the way in which speech was handled — with Speaker of the House John Boehner inviting Netanyahu behind the administration’s back — “put the Democrats, who might otherwise cheer the prime minister on the substance of the matter, in an impossible situation, where they have to choose between the prime minister of Israel & the president of the United States,” Indyk said. “And that’s an untenable position.”

Israel’s enemies are currently “celebrating,” according to Indyk, “because they love to see a split between the United States & Israel. It’s a real problem.”

The current tensions between Washington & Jerusalem are dangerous for Israel but also for the US & its influence in the region, said Indyk, who currently serves as vice president & director of the Brooking Institute’s Foreign Policy Program.

The current US ambassador to Israel, who also addressed the conference, downplayed the tension between the two governments.

“Our cooperation & consultation with Israel on this shared goal [of preventing a nuclear-armed Iran] will continue, even at moments when we may disagree on one or another aspect of the approach,” Dan Shapiro said.

Rebutting reports that the US has ceased to update Jerusalem on the current negotiations with Iran, Shapiro said senior US officials dealing with the issue have met & continue to meet with their Israeli counterparts.

16.Dennis Ross says US should pass law mandating military action if Iran violates nuclear deal By Herb Keinon, JPOST Speaking in Tel Aviv, Dennis Ross says the White House and Congress could work together to agree in advance what the price of violations will be.

T. Belman. If the Iranians would make such a deal which really destroys them for violating it, then there is no reason for wanting to be a thresh hold state. Why make such a deal in the first place. Better to avoid the war by insisting that they give up their centrifuges. Besides, Israel has learnt not to rely on US guarantees.

Congressional legislation mandating US military action against Iran in case it breaches commitments under the accord being negotiated may be one way of bridging gaps between the US & Israel over the Iranian nuclear issue, Dennis Ross said on Tuesday.

Former Middle East envoy Ross, who from 2009-2011 was a key White House official dealing with Iran, told the annual conference of the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv that the US must be clear in any agreement what the consequences would be for Iranian violations.

“You cannot wait until you face the violations, & decide what it [the consequences], will be,” he said. “You actually should work that out now.”

16

Ross said this is one area where the administration could work together with Congress, which “has made clear it wants to put its imprint” on a possible agreement, & agree in advance what the price of violations will be.

For example, he said, if despite an agreement the Iranians were found to be engaged in a “dash” to nuclear breakout, the consequence should be the use of American military force.

“There should be legislation, worked out with the Hill in advance, which says if we catch them with the following kinds of violations, then the implication is that we are going to take out those facilities.” he said.

Ross said this is something that would deter the Iranians, & go a long way toward addressing one of Israel’s main concerns.

Ross also said that a new set of protocols will also be necessary to ensure that there is a transparent regime that allows supervisory access at anytime & at any place inside Iran, & that these new protocols have to take into account tens of thousands of centrifuges, not just one or two thousand.

If the Iranians know they can be detected trying to dash to a nuclear device, & if they also know that this would automatically trigger the American use of force, “it is likely to deter them in the first place, & goes a long way toward addressing the core of Israel’s concerns,” he said.

Yossi Kuperwasser, formerly the director-general of the Strategic Affairs Ministry, was not convinced. He said this would not assuage Jerusalem’s concerns, because Israel does not trust the Iranians. The Iranians would not take seriously an American threat to use force, he added, since what would have driven such legislation in the first place is the “fear of having to do anything.”

Former Mideast envoy & envoy to Israel Martin Indyk also expressed skepticism at the idea, which he nevertheless called “creative,” saying that both the White House & Congress would be hesitant to forge an agreement that would essentially “put Iran’s finger on the American trigger. Not that the US would not be willing to use force, but to have it done automatically is something I suspect both the president & Congress would have a problem with.”

Indyk suggested that one way the gap could be bridged between America’s being able to tolerate Iran as a “near threshold” nuclear power, while Israel cannot, is for the US to enter immediately into discussions with Jerusalem “about a nuclear guarantee for Israel.”

He said these discussions were already held at Camp David in 2000 during negotiations between Ehud Barak & Yasser Arafat, & Barak asked – in the context of an agreement with the Palestinians – for an American nuclear defense guarantee.

“It was approved then, & the US president [Bill Clinton] said if there is a deal, we’ll do this,” Indyk said.

It would now be a different kind of deal, but Indyk said such a pact “may go a considerable distance toward calming Israel’s concerns about the Iranians reneging on commitments it makes in this deal.” Indyk suggested that this would be not just a presidential guarantee, but a “treaty arrangement that would require legislation, & I’m sure it would pass pretty much unanimously.”

17. Hamas aims to fight Israel from Lebanon & Syria

Goodbye Dr. Google, hello Medivizor

Ha’aretz reported Wednesday that Hamas says it plans to establish military units to fight Israel from southern Lebanon, illustrating renewed cooperation & improving ties between Hamas, Hezbollah, & Iran. Additionally, this signals a Hamas attempt to open a new front against Israel.

According to MEMRI, on February 4, senior Hamas leader Dr. Mahmoud Zahar called on Syria & Lebanon to permit Hamas to establish military units loyal to Hamas in Palestinian refugee camps in Syria & Lebanon. MEMRI has indicated that this is the first time Hamas has issued a statement describing its intention to open another front.

Emad Zaqout, news division chief at Hamas’s Al-Aqsa TV, wrote that Hamas wants to be able to attack every part of Israel in hopes of putting more pressure on the Jewish state. He also admitted that Hamas had launched rockets at Israel from Lebanon during the last Gaza war. Zaqout claimed that Mohammed Deif, chief commander of Hamas’ Izz ad-din al-Qassam Brigades who many believe to be dead, had allegedly sent a letter to Hezb’Allah chief Hassan Nasrallah asking him for permission to operate against Israel from Lebanon.

Zaqout said, “I believe that Zahar’s statements were made in coordination with the highest levels of Hezbollah.” The last Gaza war contributed to improved ties between Hamas & Hezbollah. Hezbollah’s official website reported that during the Gaza war, Nasrallah praised Hamas fighters & said he “stands next to the Palestinian resistance.”

At a recent hearing, Tony Badran, Research Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said that “in many respects, that war was Hamas’ way of reorienting its ship back to Iran.”

A former member of the Iranian Shura Council & close associate of the Iranian regime said that “the Gaza war will have a major role in warming the relations between Hamas & Hezbollah, including providing assistance & support in all required fields.”

Ynet reported that Qassem Suleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) external branch, met with Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal in Turkey shortly after Operation Protective Edge, & the IRGC recently bragged that Iran has provided Palestinian terror groups with short- & mid-range missile technology. Khaled Mashaal is scheduled to visit Iran next month.

Thousands attended the funeral of Adele Biton this morning. Earlier this morning, the girl’s family reached out to the masses & requested they pay their last respects to Adele.

“Dear, precious Adele, in these difficult times of shock & grief, we are trying to see some of the light,” said chairman of Knesset Yuli Edelstein who was invited by the Biton family to speak. “You were a big soul in a small body. In your short life, full of vicissitudes, you gave us a great lesson along with your parents. We marveled at times, we watched as you held onto life.”

“We all believed that you would come back to life,” he added. “The lesson you taught us was determination, optimism, unconditional love, severed so unexpectedly. We wanted, we hoped, we prayed, suddenly we are required to summarize your life so full of vicissitudes & heroism. I salute you, dear parents, on the struggle, on what you taught all of us.”

“Little Adele reminded us that we are one nation, & we are objects of life,” said the chairman in his eulogy. “We, the residents of Judea & Samaria, are part of Israel. The imaginary line does not separate someone on one side of the line from someone on the other side.”

“What do you say over the grave of a four year old girl who for half her life learned to walk & the other half had to try to relearn?” said chairman of Habayit Hayehudi, Naftali Bennett, in his eulogy. “What do you say over the grave of a girl who for half her life learned to laugh & the other half had to learn to

“You won the love of the entire people of Israel, family, & friends,” added Bennett. “I visited you, & I saw a fighting, brave, optimistic family, fighting for sanity, fighting for life. In your long struggle because of your inner strength, & your amazing parents & siblings, & your loving community-you got two more years of life.”

“We are the eternal nation,” Bennett read. “People think we they will break our spirit because the way of Amalek is to break our spirit first. Do they think we’ll run away from here? A people that celebrates the murder of a baby is not worthy of a country. We will continue to grow & to build & to plant, not in defiance, but as you taught us, with love.”

Earlier in the day, Adele’s mother, Advah Biton called out to the public: “I felt throughout this whole period that she was the child of all of Israel, & I assume that you all feel it. I am calling on everyone to come & pay Adele the final respect that she deserves, a soul so big in a body so small, who fought until the last second. Like a giant, like a lioness, she really fought.”

“I feel that it is appropriate to bury her where she was born, were she grew up,” explained her mother. “The place that gave us such support, the amazing community here that is hugging us & caring for us every second.”

“This girl needs to be buried in a place that will give us strength to continue forward & to give a clear statement that she was murdered, here in Samaria, in the sanctification of God’s name,” she added.

Adelle, who was critically injured two years ago in a stone throwing attack in Samaria, had a long & successful rehabilitation & was released a few months ago. Recently, she was hospitalized due to complications from pneumonia. Yesterday, she was in critical condition, & doctors fought for her life, but were unable to save her.

Four year old victim of terrorist attack laid to rest. The girl, Adelle Biton, died from complications of pneumonia two years after being attacked by stones

19.Alan Dershowitz: Obama may become Chamberlain on Iran

Harvard professor tells Israel Hayom that Obama’s conduct on Iran could result in appeasement, noting that a bad deal would be worse than no deal at all • He says Netanyahu’s speech to Congress will not impact bipartisan support for Israel. By Shlomo Cesana & Israel Hayom Staff

an Dershowitz warns that Obama might conclude a bad deal with Iran

Professor Alan Dershowitz, the renowned legal scholar from Harvard University, told Israel Hayom Tuesday that Barack Obama might go down as another Neville Chamberlain if Iran gets hold of a nuclear weapon.

Dershowitz said he hopes Obama has what it takes to avoid the missteps of the late disgraced British premier, whose efforts to appease the Nazi Germany only precipitated World War II.

He noted that the president had assured him over the years that the administration would not allow Iran to develop a nuclear bomb, although he remained unconvinced. According to Dershowitz, whether Obama will actually stick to his pledge is highly questionable. Dershowitz lamented that Obama’s conduct has been a source of concern for quite some time, warning that a bad deal with Iran would be worse than no deal at all.

Dershowitz supports Netanyahu’s decision to address Congress next month, saying the invitation he was issued was well within the legislative branch’s prerogative. Congress has the right to hear what experts or world leaders have to say, even if they do not share the president’s worldviews, Dershowitz emphasized. That is why Congress had the right to invite Netanyahu & the prime minister had every right to accept the invitation, Dershowitz said.

Dershowitz insisted that the speech was unlikely to have an adverse effect on the bipartisan support Israel enjoys in Congress, although he conceded that some had used the controversy as a pretext to drive a wedge between the two countries. According to Dershowitz, the debate over the speech has been overblown, in part because Israel & the United States have two very distinct systems of government. U.S. lawmakers can invite anyone they want & they do not have to clear it with anyone, he explained.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Institute for National Security Studies held the second day of its annual conference. Among the speakers was Dennis Ross, who served as Middle East envoy for multiple U.S. administrations. Speaking on a panel on America’s role on the world stage, Ross noted that Israel & the United States could agree on the contours of a nuclear deal if its provisions included a viable enforcement mechanism. He said that any such deal would have to ensure transparency & specify the punitive steps that would be taken in the event of a violation by Iran.

20.Very Good News Israel

A Green & Pleasant Land

Long-awaited winter rains, plus my recent trip to the Arava in southern Israel are the inspiration for this week’s blog. The Arava region in Israel’s Negev “desert” now produces 60% of Israel’s exports of food crops, right alongside massive fields of solar panels. It is a microcosm of Israel’s advanced agricultural technologies that combine with its clean tech innovations to help generate a green & sustainable planet.

My journey south centered around Kibbutz Ketura, just 50km north of Eilat, which hosts the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. It also contains a 5MegaWatt solar field, with self-cleaning robots, built by Arava Power, which is now constructing a 40MW field just across the road. It has a factory growing special algae that makes Ketura the world’s leading source of the natural anti-oxidant astaxanthin.

Two innovative joint research projects have just been approved, involving scientists at MIT & at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. You can probably guess the goals of “Self-Sustained Agriculture Based on Marginal Water”, but you may have more trouble with “Identification of Epigenetic Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Tomato Seed Germination”! Before we leave the Negev, Israel’s Brenmiller Energy has just announced that it will establish a 10MW solar power station in Dimona, capable of generating electricity from solar energy for an average of 20 hours a day.

Heading north we reach a rather wet Tel Aviv, where hydroponics – growing crops without soil – are cultivating lettuce & strawberries in the Central Bus Station using water from the building’s air-conditioning system. Just around the corner, Israel’s Flux has developed a personal device that helps individuals & small businesses install home-farming hydroponics.

Up in the Galilee, delegates at Kinneret College’s first Water Conference heard how Israel’s BSc graduates in Water Industry Engineering extended a wastewater system under Israel’s main Tel Aviv highway, without disrupting traffic. Several ex-students currently work for some of the 11 Israeli water companies that recently visited Spain to present technology to help Spanish infrastructure companies recycle more of the rain in Spain. We now cross the sea to Africa, where students from Tel Aviv University have built a 48,000-liter rainwater harvesting & advanced filtration system that provides 400 children & staff at Nkaiti Secondary School in Minjingu, Tanzania with safe drinking water.

Israel’s newly launched relationship with India is on the crest of a wave. Israeli water company Netafim has been selected to partake in a $60 million micro-irrigation project in the Indian state of Karnataka. The project will help 6,700 farmers in 22 villages, increase crop production & save 50 percent of their water consumption. Meanwhile, Israel’s Water-Gen is bringing its pioneering air-to-water technology to the urban poor of India, where over 150 million people are not connected to a water supply. In addition, the Israel pavilion entitled “Israel Innovation in India” opened at Vibrant Gujarat 2015, showcasing advanced Israeli agriculture technologies.

Just in case anyone thought that Israel had abandoned Haiti, five years after the devastating earthquake, IsraAID’s work there includes the agriculture program “Haiti Grows”, supporting local farmers with Israeli technology. Closer to home, the Israeli government has sponsored Palestinian Arab strawberry farmers to upgrade facilities & train them in strawberry cultivation. Annually, Israel trains 1200 Palestinian Arab farmers.

There has been some good news emanating from Europe recently. Nine Israeli CleanTech companies attended Leipzig’s Green Ventures Forum, where they held over a hundred meetings with companies from over 30 countries. Over in Italy, Israel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fiat Chrysler, Iveco & Magneti Marelli for co-operation in the development of natural gas based technologies. & even the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) was appreciative of the five-day MASHAV workshop in Israel, teaching successful renewable energy practices & energy efficiency technologies to 23 experts & policymakers from across Eurasia.

Back in Israel, the Environment Ministry has just announced that it will provide $1.6 million for local authorities to encourage commuters to use public transport or bicycles in congested Israeli cities. It includes new bicycle rental stations, cycle paths & a subsidized station taxi service. & I won’t say “no” if someone wants to donate to me one of the new INU electric scooters launched by Israel’s Green Ride It folds automatically, recognizes its owner & has a range of 40km at speeds up to 25km/hour.

Before I put on my hat & coat, there is just room to include Jacob Richman’s excellent image of the new Israeli stamps featuring some of Israel’s beautiful winter flowers. & I conclude with a puzzling phenomenon. After an absence of 20 years, flocks of synchronized starlings have been forming spectacular sights of dancing clouds in the skies of southern Israel. Are they also enjoying Israel’s new blue-sky thinking?

22.Infidel Lives Matter! Posted: 18 Feb 2015 02:27 AM PST

23 from: 24

The following was written by Eric Allen Bell, originally published on Faith Freedom here. You should make sure you’re sitting down as you read it, because it will blow you over with its intensity & direct honesty.
Bell is a writer, filmmaker & media adviser, living in Los Angeles, California. While making a documentary about the construction of a 53,000 square foot mega mosque in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, he attempted to expose “Islamophobia”. But he had an awakening, which you can read about here. When he stated publicly that Islam was the biggest threat to human rights in the world today, his writing was banned from being published on the Daily Kos & MichaelMoore.com after LoonWatch.com created a petition to silence him. But he has not been silenced.
Okay, are you ready? Here’s Eric Allen Bell:
“About 1,400 years ago a mentally ill illiterate desert dweller, a Jew-hater suffering from auditory hallucinations, dictated a best seller entitled “The Holy Quran”. Out of this book came a tyrannical political system & a fanatical religious ideology called Islam. The word Islam means “submission”. The Quran also produced a brutal legal system called the Sharia. Since the author of the Quran, a blood thirsty rapist, pedophile & slave owner named Muhammad, first began his homicidal mission – to force the unbeliever to submit to Islam – approximately 270,000,000 people have been killed in his name.
Today, the leader of the most powerful country in the world, Barack Hussein Obama, has declared Islam to be a religion of peace & told the United Nations that, “The future has no place for those who would slander the prophet of Islam”. We are in big trouble. The leader of the free world is more concerned with protecting the feelings of the followers of Muhammad than protecting the lives of his majority Infidel incumbents. Somehow in all that channel changing chatter, the voices are mostly absent which say that Infidel Lives Matter.
As the public education system in America slowly celebrates Islam more & more, while whitewashing its horrific history, we raise a generation who have forgotten that Infidel Lives Matter.
Every Islamic hellhole on the globe today is the result of brutal Quranic conquest. History has forgotten that those who are now forced to submit to Islam in those nations used to be Infidels. They were allowed to speak up & object to the sadistic teachings of Muhammad, until enough of them had forgotten that Infidel Lives Matter.
Remember, the word “Islam” literally means “submission” & its stated mission is to force the entire world to submit to Islam. Remember that today Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, although a careful read of the Islamic scriptures makes it self-evident that Islam is really more of a political system, with some religious overtones. Remember & don’t forget that you are free to say whatever you want about Muhammad, in print in pictures & in film & you do not have to submit. Remember – when they twist your words, tarnish your reputation, call you names & threaten your life – that Infidel Lives Matter.
Over its 1,400 year bloody history, after the followers of Muhammad attack a land for Islam, they build victory mosques. Since the Twin Towers were hit by devout Muhammad maniacs on 9/11 – new mosque construction in America has nearly doubled! The writing is on the wall for all who have the courage to see. This rapidly growing phase in the cultural expansion of Islamic Law in America is made possible by the silent voices – the voices that should be shouting from the mountain top that Infidel Lives Matter, but instead would rather not know what a mosque even is.
Since 9/11 there have been approximately 25,000 acts of brutal Islamic terrorism. That means on average several per day, taking the lives of roughly 2,000,000 people. & after each act of Islamic brutality, political leaders & media talking heads immediately change the narrative, to warn us about an imaginary wave of “Islamophobia” rather than to just come out & say that Infidel Lives Matter & we have finally had enough. No. Like the wife who cannot leave the wife beater, we make excuses: “He didn’t mean it” & “He wasn’t really being himself” & “He is trying to change” & “Well, maybe I deserved it”. But the fact is that Infidels do not deserve the bullying of Islam but a bully will not back down until he is defeated – & this bully will not be defeated until enough of us come to realize that Infidel Lives Matter.
The Islamic President of Turkey said that “The mosques are our barracks”. Turkey is a country with more journalists behind bars than nearly any other, while enjoying the reputation of being the most moderate Muslim country in the world. What is meant by that quote, about the mosques being barracks? & what is a mosque exactly?
A mosque is place where the Sharia is taught. Sharia is brutal & sadistic & runs counter to human rights. A mosque is a place where sedition & treason are taught, & this runs counter to the preservation of American values, ideals, & our very survival. A mosque is a place where superstition is taught, & this runs counter to reason & rational thinking. A mosque is a place where Islam, meaning “submission” is taught. & submission runs counter to Liberty. Liberty means that you own you. Liberty is one of the founding principles upon which the free world stands. Islam & Liberty cannot coexist. It’s a zero sum game where only one can win – & we can only win when we remember that Infidel Lives Matter.
Islam is anti-human rights, anti-reason, anti-liberty & anti-free speech. Islam is the most intolerant belief system in the world! Nothing is more xenophobic than Islam. Islam is the biggest hate group in history & its target is the Infidel. & we as Infidels must destroy Islam & destroy it absolutely if we are going to leave a free world to our children & grandchildren. We must end Sharia in our time. & we must take control of the media narrative until the message becomes abundantly clear that Infidel Lives Matter.
Islamic blasphemy laws dictate that no one, Muslim & non-Muslim alike, be permitted to criticize the pedophile prophet Muhammad. & recently we have seen yet another wave of brutal attacks by devout followers of Islam against those who would simply draw a picture of his image. Islam is the ultimate tyrannical system – its body count unmatched by any other. & the history of Germany in the thirties & forties has shown us what happens, when we take too long to finally respond appropriately to tyranny. Islam & freedom cannot coexist. Islam has to go because the cruel must not dominate the civilized world & because Infidels Lives Matter.
I started writing this article after taking in the news of the latest shootings in Denmark, aimed at a conference on free speech & blasphemy laws. & in that same afternoon, as I put the finishing touches on this, a news story just broke out that the Islamic State just executed dozens of Christians, beheading them, following the commandments of the Quran.
Islam teaches that no government is legitimate unless it submits to Islam. & Islam is what is taught in mosques. Mosques teach sedition & treason. Therefore, the logical, reasonable & appropriate action for law enforcement is to raid all mosques in America. Arrest the Islamic Clerics & interrogate them. Determine if they are teaching what Islam preaches, with regard to forcing the world to submit to Islamic Law (Sharia). Tolerance of those who seek to destroy our way of life will be the death of us. A radical enemy requires a radical response. & we can tap into that radical quality in ourselves, the one which demands personal freedom, only when we know in our hearts & we believe that Infidel Lives Matter.
Infidels, which are those people who do not submit to Islam, are being tortured, raped & killed, all over the world, at an unbelievable pace – their Infidel heads on stakes & blood flowing in the streets, as churches & synagogues are burned to the ground, atheists executed & homosexuals hanged.
But if you were raised by a Baby Boomer or a Gen Xer in America, there is a good chance you were raised to be ashamed of being an American. & you very likely believe that we deserve what the terrorists are doing to us. & if you continue to hold this belief, you will eventually lose your freedom. Don’t let anyone take your sense of self-worth away. If you are an Infidel then you are someone who has not yet been forced to submit to Islam. & if you want to retain this freedom then it is crucial you know it & see it & say it & believe it that Infidel Lives Matter.
The supporters of Liberty have made the world a better place. In the past 30 years, poverty, starvation & illiteracy have dropped dramatically as the result of political & economic systems which value personal freedom. Islam is the enemy of personal freedom. Wherever Islam thrives, the world becomes a living hell.
The time has come to draw a line in the sand. The time is now for people of courage & conviction to rise up & say “enough”. We must stop tolerating that which is intolerable. We must stop trying to coexist with that which seeks to destroy us. The tyrannical teachings & fanatical followers of Muhammad are a plague upon this world. And the only hope for destroying this plague are the Infidels. Infidels are the hope for humanity. & so now, more than ever, Infidel Lives Matter.
Infidels of the world, it’s time to heed the call. The Information superhighway is our battlefront. Get onto Twitter. Get onto Facebook. Spread articles which tell the dirty secrets about Muhammad. Post videos which expose the radical truth about moderate Islam. Share offensive picture memes of Muhammad. Use social media to spread information around the world. You can do it & you must do it because freedom is paid for in installments, by each generation. Spread the truth about Islam far & spread it wide & spread it like Napalm. The enemy of Islamic brutality is Information. Become a soldier of the Information Age & carpet bomb the internet with information. Don’t just think about this. Do it. Because Infidel Lives Matter.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/CitizenWarrior/~4/tFw6BiXlB98?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
