NEW PERSPECTIVES ON TREATMENT OF TRAUMA & PTSD:                    Developmental, Neurobiological, and Evolutionary Orientations

Explore in-depth meanings and impact of psychic trauma on the mind, the brain, development, and behavior, as well as treatment implications.

Workshop investigates and provides clinically-oriented insights into:

• Origins of post-traumatic symptoms and PTSD diagnosis

• Types of trauma: personal loss, family abuse, violent crime, natural disaster, societal atrocity

• Freud's seminal concept of repetition compulsion (meaning, functions,  & why humans re-enact childhood traumas)                                                                                                                               * Intrapsychic and interpersonal consequences of trauma                                     * Understanding PTSD symptoms as adaptive responses to trauma

• Neurobiological & evolutionary perspectives 

• Impact of trauma on the brain, consciousness, the unconscious and adaptability of the human species

Workshop provides:

• 4-stage treatment model of PTSD

• Clinical techniques & tools for crisis intervention & assessment

Workshop includes intermediate and advanced content benefitting mental health professionals with wide range of backgrounds and experience:

• Psychologists, MFTs, LCSWs & LPCCs

• Addiction counselors
