Los Angeles, CA - September 3, 2015 - A significant percentage of individuals who apply for long term care insurance will not be approved for coverage.  A new consumer video posted by the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance shares information and options.

"People call our offices in disbelief that they or a spouse have been declined because many assume insurers must accept all applicants," explains Jesse Slome, director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI).   The organization has posted a six-minute video designed to shed light on the topic of declines and provide some helpful information.

"First, it is important to understand that you are not alone," Slome shares.  According to the Association's study of industry data, as many as 44 percent of individuals who apply after age 70 are declined.  "The percentage is less at younger ages but still many people who want some protection are unable to get any," he adds.

"Second, people with health conditions or who take any prescription medications shop price when they really should be shopping health," Slome explains.  "There is a significant difference between being in good health because you are taking prescription drugs and being in good health with no medications."
