May 26, 2015, Los Angeles, CA -  To create heightened awareness and dispel some of the current misinformation circulating about long term care insurance, the American Association for Long Term Care Insurance announced commencement of a summer-long awareness initiative.

"Our goal is to reach one million adults in their 50s and 60s a pretty daunting task for a small independent organization," explains Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI).  The Association was founded in 1998 and is funded by dues from insurance and financial professionals.

"Americans are living longer lives and if you are 60 today, the chances you'll live into your 80s and 90s is extremely high," Slome notes.  "Unfortunately, your health will likely deteriorate as you age and at some point millions of us will need assistance with things that once were simple like bathing and dressing.  That's what's called long term care and most people have no plan for the inevitable."

The awareness campaign will be funded by the Association.  "Sure I wish we had financial support but we can't wait any longer to spearhead a much needed initiative to create awareness that will turn around the steady decline in sales," Slome adds.  The AALTCI director invites any interested parties seeking to co-brand a part of the campaign to contact the Association offices.
