Joey Sargent Launches Solopreneur School
Blog and online community to serve independent professionals worldwide.
August 30, 2015 – ATLANTA, GA – A new online community for solo professionals will open its virtual doors on September 7, 2015. Solopreneur SchoolTM was conceived by Joellyn 'Joey' Sargent, founder and CEO of the Claravon Group in response to a need that kept coming up in her discussions with independent professionals, freelancers and other solo business owners.
"The way we work has changed dramatically in recent years," said Sargent. She observed more and more people of all ages striking out of their own, some of necessity, others by choice. "It's not simply a generational or Millennial phenomenon," she explained. "While many Baby Boomers are ready for their Act 2, there are moms seeking better work-life balance, young adults determined to forge their own path and people at mid-career who are ready to opt out of the structure and pressure of corporate life."
A 2014 study by MBO Partners found that there are 17.9 million full time solopreneurs in the United States. This is an increase of more than 12% since 2011. Today, nearly 9% of workers in the United States are solopreneurs.
Seeing that this large contingent of solo professionals didn't have a good source for high-quality, reliable advice and information on how to run a successful business, Sargent decided to the time was right for Solopreneur School.
The core of the Solopreneur School website is a blog written by a dozen expert authors covering topics like finance, sales, marketing and operations. Eventually, Solopreneur School will add an exclusive community for members to share tips and support, as well as online courses and events for members.
