Holidays No Time for Bullying – Rudolph the Reindeer on "How to Beat a Bully"

In a recent interview with Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, an important issue came to light. He candidly spoke about how all the other reindeer in Santa's stable bullied him. "They used to laugh at him and call him names. They wouldn't let him play in any reindeer games." It was heartbreaking for Rudolf.

"There is nothing fun or funny about being bullied. But something wonderful recently happened that changed everything," Rudolph said, with his nose glowing a bright, happy red.

He said he found a wonderful family film "How to Beat a Bully."  It's a "Home Alone" type comedy with an anti-bullying theme. So many stories of bullying are distressing, upsetting or sad, the filmmakers wanted to create a story that is fun and entertaining and, in a positive way, share the message to help stop bullying.  The movie has lots of laughs, yet it highlights a subject that is a serious one for many children, tweens and teens today.

The story revolves around a 12-year-old boy who moves to a new town and gets picked on by school bullies. In order to protect himself, he fibs to the bullies that his dad is a hit man for the mob!  After that, the bullies become his BFFs, but when the rumor spreads to real mobsters, they think the dad is horning in on their territory.  They capture the dad, and the boy and his friends have to save the day and his dad! The kids end up becoming town heroes and ultimately learn, "It's better to be friends than bullies."

Rudolph went on to explain that he invited the other reindeer to watch the film with him, and they laughed and had a good time together. And while Rudolph's nose is always red, many of the other reindeer's cheeks were red with embarrassment about how they had treated Rudolph. The shared experience of watching the film and laughing together opened the door to them all becoming true BRFFs – Best Reindeer Friends Forever!

With its Dove Foundation recommendation as Family-Friendly for ages 12+, Rudolph thought "How to Beat a Bully" would make an excellent Holiday Gift that the whole family can enjoy, even the younger children and adults, too.

Compare it to the price of mom and dad taking 2 or 3 kids out to the movies, which would cost a hefty fee. Watching "How to Beat a Bully" at home on Google Play or Amazon Video costs from only $1.99 to rent... or from $4.99 to buy… and it's even free to watch if viewers have Amazon Prime.  The movie is also soon to be available on DVD, as well as on iTunes, Vudu, Hulu and other platforms.

"How to Beat a Bully" Screenwriters Marilyn Anderson & Richard Rossner say they love making people laugh.  But they are happy that this film is also an opportunity to get the word out on the topic of bullying.

In addition to traditional distribution, the producers plan to make the film available to anti-bullying organizations, schools, and community centers for special screenings in order to promote a dialog that increases awareness and positive steps to put an end to bullying.
